England vs Argentina - 05/07/25

Muir is the biggest shock to me, we arnt short on good wingers and to me at least he isn't one that looked more than a good prem level.

Murley had a rocky first cap but did some good things too. I'd put him way above Muir and have a centre on the bench as that is the issue.

Ewels...red card gives us an excuse when we lose haha.

STARTING XV

1. VIVAS, Mayco (28 caps)
2. MONTOYA, Julián (105 caps) Captain
3. DELGADO, Pedro (2 caps)
4. PAULOS, Lucas (14 caps)
5. RUBIOLO, Pedro (20 caps)
6. MATERA, Pablo (109 caps) Vice-captain
7. GONZÁLEZ, Juan Martín (40 caps)
8. ISA, Facundo (51 caps)
9. BERTRANOU, Gonzalo (67 caps)
10. CARRERAS, Santiago (53 caps) Vice-captain
11. CORDERO, Santiago (54 caps)
12. PICCARDO, Justo (1 cap)
13. CINTI, Lucio (32 caps)
14. ISGRÓ, Rodrigo (7 caps)
15. ELIZALDE, Benjamín (0 caps)

FINISHERS

16. BERNASCONI, Bautista (0 caps)
17. GALLO, Thomas (35 caps)
18. CORIA MARCHETTI, Francisco (1 cap)
19. GRONDONA, Santiago (20 caps)
20. MORO, Joaquín (1 cap)
21. BENÍTEZ CRUZ, Simón (0 caps)
22. ROGER, Nicolás (0 caps)
23. MORONI, Matías (89 caps)

Put Ojomoh at 23, anyone else at 4 and Murley starting.

Steward is on good form and a good player, with Furbank out, give him a shot.

Roebuck locked in from who is available.

Slade, lucky to be there on form, Ojomoh should least be in the 23.

Atkinson, proper 12 who is young and on form.

Muir, v good prem player but damn lucky to be an international player

Ford, with who's away he's locked in.

Spencer, personally I'd start JVP but he's great player.

Back row is great. Like if we had the lions back and we put that back row out...great.

Ewels....no
Coles, not sold but needs time while a few are away.

Front row is expected. George their for experience.

Bench I'd have Dombrandt out, Ojomoh at 23(with Muir out and Murley starting.)

Overall I'm actually looking forward to it, don't think we will win.
Don't like it, won't watch it. Borthwick has killed my support
Why? Whilst their are issues with the team and Muir, Ewels and Slade are wasted caps but with a solid front row, strong back row. And most players are who most would choose.

Unless you mean because players are missing but then that wouldn't be SB fault.

Interesting selection. Atkinson making his debut against a 1 cap 12 and while I might not like the prospect of a lot of kicking, Steward, Muir and Roebuck could give Elizalde a rough ride on his debut.

Also are Argentina scraping the barrel a bit at tighthead? Not a lot of experience in those two. Baxter and Rodd aren’t hugely experienced but both have already faced the likes of SA and France.

I suspect Argentina are trying to create depth in case of injuries to the likes of Albornoz

It's gonna be an absolute kick fest. It's going to be no different to what we've had to watch from the last few years. I suspect there will be so many up and unders from us when in their half. Ford is going to play nothing like he has all season.

And it's not about the missing players with the lions. Muir, Slade, Spencer, Ewels, Dan, Dombrandt. Just no.

If we take the lead in the last 20, we will revert to a negative boot it long game and Argentina will run in a few tries.

The only thing I like about the team is the back row.

I have similar fears @TommiG88. My only hope from a tactical POV is that Blackett gets the opportunity to add his influence. Ford is a perfect player to bring Blackett’s type of rugby to life, but the 13 and back three selection makes me think it’ll be a kick heavy gameplan.

I’m not happy to see Ewels, Spencer, Slade or Dombrandt but I’m not upset to see Muir. I think he may take to test rugby well and he deserves an opportunity.

I truly hate the habit of refusing to play in the last quarter. How have we not learned from that?

It's a cruel world where Ewels has more caps than Mark Wilson, Alex Corbisiero, and three times more than James Simpson-Daniel.

Sticking to locks, he's got more caps than Dave Attwood, Geoff Parling, and Louis Deacon. How's that fair?
