We will probbably never see another Lomu at least in our lifetime. A HGH lomu maybe.... [/b]
Yeah, add to that that Lomu burst onto the scene at the end of the amature era and was the first winger to really combine size, power and pace, and you've got tall order for any new comers. Even if an exact replica of Lomu appeared today as he was in 95 he wouldn't appear as devastating I don't think because he would be up against a much more advanced game than existed when he first appeared.
This kid looks good, but then in League they have that kid Israel Folau who is only 17 and is also a monster with pace, but no one refers to him as the next Lomu.

Breaking the 12 second barrier for 100 meters is no big deal really, I used to be a sprinter before I played rugby and at my peak before I tore my rotor cuff I could run 100 meters at about 11.1 I would say. I'm around 6'1 and 15/16 stone, I was the of the fastest forwards on my team, and more than likely I was the fastest on my team. I wouldn't say this was anything special.

I however agree with what sanzar says above this post.

I think its more to do with him being 6,4 and able to run it in 11

Yeah, I suppose, but still, breaking the 12 second barrier isn't such a big thing.
I think people are too hell bent on finding the same next Lomu, anytime a big winger with a bit of pace starts to perform they use terms like 'Lomu-like' it kind of puts a lot of pressure on the player I think.

I dont know why people compare new players to Lomu. There will never be a Lomu again purely because in the modern era having guys that big and fast is common unlike back in the day when it was a freak of nature

mm..I have a friend that can run 100 in 11.7 seconds.. but he's not a rugbier ..
[/b]

that's not that quick.. unless this friend's like 15 or a girl or something.

The real quickies are sub 11 secs. The big guy who's also sub 11 that I'm excited about is Malaga.

imagine the Fiji outside backline (if all present and correct):

Rabeni & Ratuvou centres

Caucaunibuca & Malaga wings

Delasau fullback.

mmmm

hey who's malaga??lol.are u talking about masaga??if u are dn he's samoan,i think he's got a chance of making the all blacks this year.but nah they'll never be another lomu

Rubbish, how many 6ft5in 19.5stone wingers do you know who can run sub 11 seconds.

its true mate, you can watch the video or u can find out through google.i just checked and he's in the counties steelers npc squad this year, that should show how good he really is playing against guys like rokocoko etc etc

Spies should have been the next Lomu. Apparently he can, or could, run the 100m in under 11 seconds which is interesting considering he's currently a number 8 (used to be a winger). [/b]
yeah i really like spies, it was a shame he got injured last year or whatever and couldn't play in the RWC, he's an animal that guy.

never heard of this frank guy until now, he does look promising. just don't judge him on his first season, give him a season or two to get the hang of things. remember when they rushed jonah into the ABs against france and they made him look like an idiot? well let's hope they don't rush this guy out either.. good old tongan's eh..

Once again there is always another young gun who will be the next Jonah Lomu. There will never be another Jonah Lomu as he was, and still is, one of the greatest rugby players to grace the field. First of all it was Victor Vito who is now concentrating on the fifteen man game after taking a break from the seven man game. Next there is Frank Halai who is a bit too young to say if he will be half the man Jonah was. Then there is Ratu Nasiganiyavi who is a cousin of Lote Tuqiri and Fijian born.

Nah Victor Vito just got that tag because of the way he ran down the sideline against Samoa and bumped off the opposition it was Lomu like. But he will no doubt be a good player for the Wellington Lions maybe blindside or no.8 possibly.

Anyway back to the topic I think this Frank Halai is gonna be good but I wish they wouldn't label him the Next Jonah so quickly it probably makes him wanna live up to what people say instead of just playing his own game.

I don't think we'll ever see another Jonah Lomu. The other players have caught up in size and speed. I thought that maybe Lesley Vainikolo or Tuilagi from Leicester could have a similar impact as Lomu but defenses have wised up to them.

I don't know about if anyones caught up in size and speed just yet Jonah Lomu was 6'5 and 119kg at his peak where as the players you've mentioned are 6'1 & 6'2 114kg & 112kg still very formidable.
