SigeSige00 have you ever heard of AFL or Australian Rules Football? If not, please look into it as I believe you will become fond of this game.

Yes.
My college friend was a player, and joined Japan's student team. Japan was thrashed by Australian opponents.
In Japan, Australian Football is played in Rugby field by 10-player teams, because there are very few Cricket grounds.
Although I have never watched a full game, but I have watched game highlights on YouTube.
Someone was saying that Australian Football is the "Rugby without rules".
But I do not like it. Australian Football is played in Cricket grounds. However, it has not been spread to other Cricket countries. That is the proof of its shortcomings.

Of course you don't like a sport with no rules, can't change all the rules then ;)

On a serious note, I am interested in your claims that Japan is an openly racist state against Koreans? Done a little reading on the subject, seems like a lot of bad feeling from the second world war still lingers from Korea over to Japan, which I'm not too surprised at! Japans right wing also seems to have a problem with the Koreans, but that said, what country doesn't have it's share of right wing nutjobs who hate some people who're not from the same place as them?
The policy of making the Zainichi Korean ethnic minority in Japan choose a Japanese name in order to become full citizens (I do believe they are full time residents anyway, even without citizenships?) is probably quite harsh however.

What do you mean by repression against Korean schools? Do you mean less funding or something? Also your point on the Chongryon, aren't section of them heavily connected to illegal activities concerning North Korea, and somehow got almost unofficial immunity from investigations by the police until fairly recently?

Aussie Rules is a popular hybrid sport. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hybrid_sport I like it as is, and watched Aussie Rules before I discovered rugby. Coverage here in the States is spotty, and though we do get some games now (on the same channel as rugby), they only air in the middle of the night and so I rarely have a chance to watch them.

It's an exciting game, but I still prefer rugby.

I need to find something to do. Otherwise this happens...

Is that Twickenham? The height of goal posts seems about 15m. I think 15m is not enough.

By the way, in Baseball there are sometimes difficult judge "foul or home-run?".
In Baseball ground there are "Foul Poles", but sometimes ball goes higher than Foul Poles. Sometimes this causes problems.

There are always uncertainties in sports where balls fly through the air at great heights and speeds. You can't prepare for every possibility, only for the probabilities. Everything else is the reason there are referees, umpires, video refs, and other officials to make the tough calls. Usually they get it right.

But sometimes they don't. Sometimes they're wrong. Sometimes it hurts or helps a team. And sometimes people will debate and argue over that call for days, weeks - sometimes even years. I think that's all part of the game, part of the excitement. Sport isn't something that can be, or should be, perfectly controlled. You need the variations, as well as the controversies, to keep things from being so controlled that the game becomes boring and stale. Nobody wants that.

The problem of racism in Japan has a long history to tell in a short time. You will have difficult time to understand.
As for the repression on Korean schools, the Japanese government has openly ignored the Convention on the Rights of the Child and International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination which the Japanese government signed decades ago. Recently the repressions on the Korean schools are becoming harsher, many local authorities are abolishing funding to Korean schools, which had already been far smaller than Japanese schools.
In 1998, Japan's political police assassinated Ra Han, a fulltime Chongryon activist. The police never made serious investigation, of course. The allegation of the illegal activities of the Chongryon is nothing more than police's frame-up. In Japan police frequently harass Korean schools on the framed-up allegations.
And Japan's Department of Finance tried to destroy Koreans' credit-unions, and forced to accept board chairpersons from Japanese financial institutions.

And the Koreans are not the only victims. All other minorities are under attack by police and fascists. Some years ago an Iranian "illegal" resident were attacked to death by police. The number of Chinese immigrants and students is growing; but they are under daily harassment from police. And you can find many books who deny Japan's war crimes and justify racism being sold at bookstores. In short Japan is a horrible country, and the United Nations must expel Japan.

You refer to the DPRK as "North Korea", but please don't use this term, because it is offensive to the Koreans who have the DPRK nationality.

Those are some pretty big claims, have you got any definitive proof? Not saying that this isn't true, but when you're claiming that Japan should be thrown out of the UN, kinda need more than just your word to back it up! The excuse that the whole Chongryon investigations is a police frame up seems a bit convenient is all!

Also why exactly is 'North Korea' offensive to DPRK citizen? Geographically it's correct, considering it's the northern part of Korea. May I ask if you yourself are a DPRK citizen/

To be fair, it's not as if he's making these comments in front of the UN itself. ;) We've hardly got any pull to make any UN-based decisions around here.

If it were the case, Jerry Collins would already be the head of the UN security Council. :D

You mean TRF doesn't govern the world?!?! Well I'll be damned... :p haha didn't mean it like that, it's just he's the only person ever to say to me that Japan is so racist, it should be chucked out of the UN, so am interested to see how substantial these claims are. Currently I'm a little bit sceptical is all.

lol no I completely agree with you.

My point simply was, that if he DID have proof and presented it to us; what do we then do about it?

Make a thread about how these rules can be implemented in the UN? :p

Despite coming from Melbourne, i'm not a big fan of AFL and enjoy rugby instead, even watching the rebels lose is better than watching AFL.
I thought Sige would enjoy it more as it's rules are quite simple, they lack the complexities of rugby union. It's only really popular in the southern states of Australia but the AFL will try to make you believe it's a "world game" (laughable really).

I once played cricket against a Japanese school who came over here. it was a friendly match which the japanese were so excited about playing. I couldn't believe how much they loved cricket and knocking back a few beers after the game.

Movie coming out soon Try Hard
Bruce Willis plays William Webb Ellis while Alan Rickman plays Siges.
Apparently it will be an action movie, about Webb Ellis coming back to save Rugby from a madman.
