So I am considering using Hydroxycut Hardcore after watching the 5 Step Animation presentation on the website (here). A friend of mine who's been using it linked me to it. The thing is, I have never taken suppliments in my life besides odorless garlic pills for my immune system (not been sick for a good year) and omega fish oils for the old brain (really helps with decision making and concentration). I hurt my knee early this summer and put on weight, I've always been the type of guy who's body turns everything he eats into fat unless I'm really active, but on the bright side it's never hard for me to put on muscle if I am lifting on a daily basis either. When I was much younger, around 16 or so doctors told me I suffer from "Bipolar disorder" after tests and evaluation which is basically a chemical imbalance in the brain (seratonin) which affects mood and personality. To be honest since I was 18 I've been, well fine mood and depression wise. They tried me on meds but they never changed anything with me, I think that as I matured and changed my diet my moods leveled out.

About a month ago I read a report that seratonin levels can affect how your body stores calories and burns fat and I think this is why I've never been able to get to the next level of fat loss. I've always had a large build, broad shoulders, my bones are quite large and I've always had very thick strong legs and I have always been strong, yet I have also been on the chubby side most of my life, since puberty. After this summer and gaining weight with my knee injury I've considered trying HH after a friend of mine who was quite overweight most of his life lost 40lbs of fat in three months with HH and a cardio training program, has been getting in a lot better shape ever since. The last time I visited him in the city, I didn't recognize him when he picked me up at the bus depot.

I was wondering what you lads on the forum think about the product and if you or anyone you know has ever used it and could share your experiences. I eat healthy, exercise on a regular basis (well, before I hurt my knee), do a lot of non gym related exercise yet burning the fat has always been a problem with me. I figure giving this stuff a shot is worth it if I can get from the 275lbs I am now to around 250-230 with the same muscle mass. I mean Christ, I've grown moobs over the last 3 months and it is starting to really annoy me.

Again, opinions and input would be appreciated greatly.

I don't know anything about that product.. but the best way to do it is to do it naturally. You say you eat healthy and do a lot of cardio.. but it may not be enough. Your friend lost just over 1lb a week, which is average. I could do that without any supplements.

My point is, I've been doing it "Naturally" for years and I'm still not burning fat, I put on muscle easy but burning the flab is a major problem. Going all the way back to wrestling in high school, I had the same problem and if you know anything about amature wrestling you know we get a crazy workout every time we were in practice.

As I've said in the post, it may be my body chemistry which is why I think I may need the extra "help".

Does anyone have experience with this product?

Body chemistry only affects weight loss so much you're just eating too much. Losing weight is simply a matter of eating less than you burn.

Here is an example of a diet if you are trying to lose weight:

6am: Cardio

7am: 60g oats 200ml skimmed milk
Shake

10am: 150g chicken + salad

1pm: 1 tin tuna + salad

4pm (after weights): Shake + some fruit

7pm: beef + rice + yoghurt

What's your diet at the moment? How much cardio are you doing?

You need to work out your BMR and daily calorie intake. Email me if you need more advice on that. When you know this you need to create a calorie defecit. If you can create one of 500KCals per day this will equates to 3500 over a week which will = 1 pound. This is a safe amount and any more than this will probably be fluid and lean muscle mass. I'm afraid no product is proven and defintelely wont be trialled and tested safely by a regulatory body - the only proven LONG TERM effective way to lose fat is through correct exercise and nutrition. Anyone 'can' do it. As you've gathered I'm a personal trainer and every client I've ever had has lost fat - it's a simple equation but needs a committment to eating right and doing the necessary work. If you work our harder and harder what tends to happen is you eat more to compensate.

Let me know if you want more advice
