Increase in ads?

I understand they need to be run to fund the site but now they're appearing mid page on forum topics, top, bottom and a pull down (latter is most irritating of all), is this going to be a permanent thing or just temporary whilst we near the end of the world cup to maximise revenue?

Thought about offering an ad-free subscription too? Its got to the stage where I'm now reconsidering visiting the site.

Not sure if it's been a conscious choice or is just where XenForo puts ads now

This is becoming annoying. Some posters posts are being split by ads inbetween paragraphs.

It might be useful for whoever is responsible for the sysadmin if you guys could say what browser / device you're using. I do most of my reasing of this forum on a Windows laptop in a copy of Mozilla that I configured myself, so I'd forgotten that there were ads! Looking on Mozilla on my Android phone, I see that they are obtrusive, but couldn't see the sort of glitch being described. That being the case it would also be handy if you could link to particular threads / posts that are causing the problem (assuming that it manifests reliably).

Chrome, Android.

Although mods should be able to see what browser people are posting from and IP in the forum software itself.

This is all from 1 page, just used the cup final thread as it's a pretty standard one.

Also includes an ad being inserted mid-post (5th one down). Mobile data am cry.

Here's what happens when I connect through my VPN. This would be what I consider an acceptable amount of ads and how it's been prior to recent changes. Note the post is no longer split in bottom image.

Small aside; when I load an image attached to post through VPN, it is different to when I do not. Without VPN it's a full screen and I have to use back button on phone, without It loads in a frame with ability to close. Odd behaviour but minor.

Yes please do address it. The increase in ads is definitely making the user experience worse

I'm also on chrome, and I use safari on my Iphone. But as a mod I can't see which browser anyone is using. I too get a lot of ads. They were there before, but now they are more, bigger and inbetween posts.

It used to be one ad at the top of the thread and one at the bottom.

It has certainly improved. I still see a lot of ads, but not inbetween posts anymore.

Ditto, a couple of ads per page, but nothing excessive or weird (android / chrome).

Yep, also found this super annoying, especially the drop down. Was spoiling the site for me to an extent for a few days but thankfully seems to have been fixed now.
