Irish tour in doubt

Ireland's 2 test tour to Argentina this Summer could be in jeopardy after the IRFU revealed that they've yet to receive confirmation of the venue for the first test and apparently patience is wearing thin at the IRFU. The tour could be reduced to a single test match or scrapped altogether if things are not sorted in the near future.

Hopefully the UAR will get their act together as we'll need these 2 games to give the fringe players a serious test before the world cup, no offence to the Pacific Islands but Argentina away is bound to prove more of a test for the likes of Paddy Wallace, Luke Fitzgerald and even the likes of Carney if he gets a call up.

UAR's fault then. If they can't be bothered to get the details for the tour sorted at least a month before the visiting party arrive then they deserve to forfeit.

Bit of a disappointment for Ireland, they really need a good run out against decent opposition after such a hot/cold Six Nations.

Still enough time to get this sorted though as the first test isn't until the end of May, even if we get the one test it'll still be better than nothing.

Well it will be a question of blame if the Argies don't sort it out!!! Because thats who the fault lies with at the moment!

This is the problem these days. Nobody wants to apportion blame and nobody wants accept the blame. Someone needs the bloody balls to just say "You dropped a bollock" and someone needs to say "fair cop guv, we screwed up, we'll sort it out next time."

I wouldn't be surprised if EOS goes with a full strength team in 1 of the tests now that both provinces are not going to have any meaningful games between now and world cup.

Still needs to give the fringe players plenty of gametime, would be better to mix things up like he should do in the opening 2 games in France.

With all the Pumas playing in the French clubs, it's likely that the Argentina team won't be full strength.

Argentina second string side drew with the Lions. It will give alot of experience to the Irish fringe players & any young Irish lads they take out there.

The UAR is in disarray, tbh. This is the second time in two years that tours to Argentina have been put into jeopardy, first because of money and now because of disorganisation. They need a good kick up the backside.

But they won't accept our dirty money because they refuse to turn professional.

Its put their entry into the Tri Nations AND the pan American Super 14 style club competition in doubt too, all because the management of the UAR is like that of the RFU...in 1890.

Its a shame they won't turn 100% pro...they have the potential to become one of the best.

It's a Mother F___ing Shame. F___! Why won't they just f___ing go full f___ing on professional? S___!

Sorry...a wee bit stressed at work today.

But if they go professional, where would they generate revenue and all their players are in Europe? Would it actualy be bad for them to go perfessional?..

Do you think there's going to be a group of club which will leave the ARU and create the Southern Rugby Union in order to be able to pay or compensate the lost salaries of their players?

No, it would not be bad for them to go professional. Not only would they get funding from other senior rugby nations through the iRB, they would be able to seal the deal to gain entry into the Tri-Nations and thus get a slice of substantial TV revenues. In turn the UAR can plough this back into the domestic game and gradually, players will start to stay with the newer professional clubs in the pan american super 14.

Amazing things can't happen overnight and they will go through some pain, but the UAR are already bankrupt as it is, they can't afford to continue with their system anymore.

Ireland Summer Tour to Argentina

Saturday May 26th â€" Santa Fe â€" Club Atlético Colón Stadium

Saturday June 2nd â€" Buenos Aires â€" Club Atlético Vélez Sarsfield Stadium

Kick off times and ticketing information will be confirmed at a later date.

Ireland have played seven full internationals against Argentina and have won five of the encounters.

27/10/1990: Ireland won 20-18 in Dublin

28/08/1999: Ireland won 32-24 in Dublin

20/10/1999: Argentina won 28-24 (RWC) in Lens, France

03/06/2000: Argentina won 34-23 in Buenos Aires

23/11/2002: Ireland won 16-7 Dublin

26/10/2003: Ireland won 16-15 (RWC) in Adelaide

27/11/2004: Ireland won 21-19 in Dublin

So Ireland have beaten Argentina more times than they have beaten us.. But I think Ireland will lose both encounters with the Argentines or at least not win by much. dont like the idea of trashing them and showing our full hand right before the world cup! But it should be a good game no doubt!
