Lara's record under threat

Brian Lara's world record of 400 not out is under threat from Younis Khan. Overnight the Pakistani batsman is 306 not out after day 4 of the first test with Sri Lanka in Karachi. As long as Akmal stays with him he has a great chance.

So bit of a false dawn as Younis only added 7 to his overnight score to make only 313!

Getting that high a score is in most cases utter selfishness and damages their teams chances of winning. I remember when Lara did it and that was a perfect case of it. Terrific milestone all the same though I suppose.

the damage had already been done though with Sri Lanka's first innings score, never really a chance for Pakistan to win the test, even to get the follow on they had to get to a pretty decent total.

Think in Lara's case for the 400 not out there was a chance for the Windies to win the test but again how often do you get a result at the ARG
