I'm planning on playing Rugby in college next year (i'm still in high school right now) and i'm unsure about whether i should lift to bulk up and gain some weight while making minor strength gains or just focus on pure strength and speed? At this point im leaning toward trying to bulk up a little so that it'll be harder to push me around on the field. Currently i weigh 160 lbs, bench 250 lbs (1 rep max), squat and deadlift 360 lbs (1 rep maxes), and i have also ran 100m in 12.1 secs.

I am a Junior player, I am a jumper and a thrower. I am quite skinny but because of my experience in my club, I sometimes have to lift guys who are bigger then me, any my point is it is all about technique, juniors have to lift at the shorts, so you have to get the lifters to do a few things

Bend their knees and keep low when the get ready
When the lift, keep him in the air
When they lift, lifters need to come as close as they can

In general work on technique instead of power and safety is everything, they need to know what they are doing
