NFL anyone?

And what did 90,000 people get? The **** Manning brother, Cleo Lemon and a whole lot of rain. [/b]

They got typical NFL football. **** quarterbacks and mediocre teams.

I didnt think they would sellout wembley.

Well there are three factors to take in mind. Firstly the novelty factor, secondly the sheer amount of people in the Uk, and thirdly how many tickets would have been given away, be it corporate tickets or just handing them out to fill the place up....

This is the NFL, the biggest money whore-ing league on the planet. These penny pinchers don't give away tickets. This sold out on it's own merit. But don't mistake a one of sell out as an inherent fan base in England. A one off is a one off. When you have the money the NFL has to throw around in advertising it's not a shock they sold out.

The NFL would have surely needed to either give away corporate tickets or sell reduced price tickets to sell out the stadium, why would Brits bother with Gridiron when they have league which has the same structure to it yet wear less padding....

The AFL does the same thing in England, go to all kinds of lengths to stage a match in England so they can brag about how awesome thier sport is and how it is on the rise but it's all spin....

It would have been a disaster if the NFL staged a match and half a crowd came, yet if they organised for a packed house then they could go for a bid to expand into Europe...(well back into Europe) I don't trust the Americans enough to legitimately sell out a foreign stadium for a sport only they and a select foreign minority actually give a crap about...

They sold out because it was hyped the f*** out of and it was the event factor, if you marketed it properly you could get 90,000 people to show up in most big countries to see 2 midgets juggling - even here in NZ the build up for this game was in the first 5 or so stories in the sports headlines on the 6 o'clock news - usually all we get is a 30 second clip of that week's Monday Night Football game inbetween stories about cycling and sailing.

500,000 people tried to get tickets for this game, they didn't need to give a single one away when you have 5 times the stadiums seating number wanting in.
