The Bristol Aztecs are delighted to announce the signing of Ex England Rugby Union Prop Duncan Bell.
Duncan has enjoyed an impressive professional career playing for Pontypridd, Sale, and Bath, where he was an integral member of the team for 9 years, during which time he racked up 207 first team appearances.
Bell was also on or around the fringes of the England team for years, and earned a total of 5 caps. Despite still being in good shape, he took the decision to retire from professional rugby to concentrate on building his financial services business, allowing him more time to pursue a life long interest in American football.
Joining the team late in the season, Bell was only able to make one game, and made 5 tackles from defensive tackle in less than a half of football. He plans to be able to make more of an impact in 2013 after a full pre season learning the intricacies of defensive line play. Bell is as keen as any young rookie, “I love the sport so much, and have been an avid fan for years. Being a professional rugby player, contract restrictions meant I could never play, but I’m now able to fulfil a long time ambition”.
