Crushed Ears In Scrum

My coach just switched me to No.8 and my ears are already folding. In the scrum they're getting stuck between the two locks' hips; they are folding and I'm having trouble hearing. I was thinking about getting a scrum cap or taping them; I don't want to end up with cauliflower ears. Any suggestions/recommendations?
