Official Super League 2006 Thread

They have a history of beating us recently as well, which makes the result all the more pleasing.

Wigan - Leeds , now that`s really something. I`m not a RL conoisseur so bear with me but i`ve heard Wigan is the record holder in British RL (history stats) and they dominate the League in the 90`s - 6 or 7 ***le in a row! Very passionate supporters (2.500 went to France for the last week game) and almost invincible on home ground!

I`ve also seen the odds to win this season (in a previous post) from RL bookmakers. Wigan 9 - 1, St Helens 7 - 4, Leeds 2 - 1 !

But , if you ask me, Wigan will win this one!

Doubt it myself ( although Leeds didnt sparkle by all acounts at the weekend ).

Either way it will be a bellringer :D

Here`s how i see round / week 2

Salford - Les Catalans Dragons.

Both team produced week 1 biggest surprises. Salford is bookmaker`s favorite but i pick the frech side (the french side is more informal, the team consist in large number of abroad players - poms, `giant rats` and nz`landers). Huh, and let`s remind the first RL WRC was won by France in 1954) . Therfore the winner should be Les Catalans

Wigan - Leeds - Wigan as i`ve explained in the previous message

St Helens - Castleford

Best rated team vs worst rated teams, St Helens by 40 or more

Bradford - Harlequins

Bradford to win but it won`t be an easy game ! Harlequins are capable of surprises in away games as i`ve seen the statistics from the previous season.

Hull - Wakefield

Easy win for Hull, more than 30 points

Huddersfield - Warrington

Most likely Warrington even tho Huddersfield were quite good last season in home games

Les Catalans lost the match after loosing in less than ten minutes their two mentors on the filed, Jones and Rinaldi. Stacey Jones is actually out for at least 8 weeks.

I`m not a specialist Wally but i know RL!
Really? I thought you South Africans hated the game! Mind you I never got why, as rugby league has so much harder hits than union (having legal shoulder charges and constant gang tackling), I would have thought it right up your ally!

But there's no scrum, no flankers, no rucks, no line outs in RL and I think that all these elements are very much appreciated by the saffas.

I know RL , i never said i like it!

Hehe, it`s a girlie game if you ask me, it`s like, la-la-la-la-la tackle 1, la-la-la-la-la tackle 2, la-la-la-la-la tackle 3 and so on !

Pure luck against Huddersfield! Bradford will kick your arse next round ! :bravo:
Maybe.

But you keep saying it and it keeps on not happening....

Hey St Helen, what about Salford? I`ve read your post from a bbc site before the season started and the odds were 200 / 1 (only Casterfield were above them) and now they are in 4th place!

They're doing well for themselves, fair play. I don't especially like them and I thought this might be the season where they went down but they're proving me and everyone wrong. They will fade away, they will slip down the table but they may have a good chance of being in the six at the end if they continue in this run of form.
