I found this video linked on another forum I frequent from time to time. It's from a Leeds vs Hunslet match in 1901:

It's interesting to see how the game has developed over the last century and a bit. Seems hecktic as anything.

Fascinating.
Look how supple and lithe their bodies are, while still covering a wide range of body types. No No-neck wonders then.
The crowd doesn't look very different from Stradey Park in the 50's.

I like how every ruck is a scrum and basically a guy gets it and just hoofs it or throws it at someone.
