Richie Rees cited over alleged gouging

Cardiff Blues scrum-half Richie Rees has been cited following his side's 23-19 Heineken Cup Pool 1 defeat to Northampton on 19 December.

Rees is accused of making contact with Northampton hooker Dylan Hartley's eye during the first half of the match at the Cardiff City Stadium.

An independent judicial officer has been appointed to hear the case in Dublin on Thursday, 6 January, 2011.

If found guilty, Rees could be suspended for between 12 and 156 weeks.

Rees' team-mate Xavier Rush received a one-week suspension after a red card in the same game for a high tackle on Courtney Lawes.

Don't see where your logic is there, Id expect him to be banned for the 6 Nations and a little beyond that, as for the maximum I highly doubt it.
