Rugby 2008

f*** that, X has to be pass left and B has to be pass right. The shoulder buttosn passing sustem was always shite, even on JLR and the analouge buttons would make it even worse to try and use.

The current Xbox layout is the way forwards.
[/b]

I would like to see two passing options. So the technique above for left and right passes (maybe double tap for misses rather than holding as I think it is more intuitive), but also a similar system to the one used in RL2 - so a 'modifier' button with brings up passing icons, so that you can pick out a man running a good line.

Obviously this depends on the AI making interesting and varied runs, but would be a great system - almost an extension of the Rugby 06 set play system which would work in open play.

Aye, I guess that could work. Although the modifier has little to no hope of ever happening as EA don't like multiple control methods... <_<

Running Commentary from George Hook. I'd like to hear him make colourful comments on how people are playing poorly. In fact, I think they should do a Madden-like Franchise around him.

The set plays should as always simply move automatically except a person should be able take control of the set plays at ANY time by moving the player with the ball in any direction etc........so auto with the option of instant manual over ride type of set plays.

the player run idea is brilliant - would add so much more to running with the backs...

would also like to see more people in the backline - it seems i only ever get 2 people outside the flyhalf (except in a set play)

the full back should join and the looseforwards should have a bit of a run/decoy outside too

Surely you are kiddin?

no i am not - its funny 1 guy always seem to cut inside my flyhalf when i pass from the ruck, and the fullback is just too slow to join the line...

maybe its just me?

Well what i was thinking was the select button on the control pad would give three options of team tactics:

Forward play - where there is alot of pick and drive and mauls and rucks in centre of the field
Backs play - where the game is fast flowing back moves with decoy runs available
kicking to the corener - where you basically play 10 man (Munster) rugby
free play - anything goes

When you chose a move from the options you should have 12 different move options, so that would mean you have 4 forwards moves, 4 backs moves and 4 kicking options for example corner kick, grubber kick, up and under and cross field and when you have free play you can choose yourself any of the four as options. that gives you loads of on field options and can adapt teams to your own style.

(i like that idea)

from my personal point of view i would prefer the above buttons to be the passing buttons but thats because i used to have the game on playstation.

i think they could use the Fifa 07 game as a good ideas for example the contracts and purchasing of players, scouting players, options of in game running lines, youth acadmeys, loaning out youngsters (which does happen in rugby)

also like the creating of players on the game and would love to be able to make teams to add to leagues

Lol...you must be doing Red moves???? Or the instant takeoff technique! you don't even know you are either lol!

I beleive there are people who do those moves without realising they are doing them, and therefore not harnessing their power. Had one done against me tonight in fact.

Oh no, here I go again B)
Mauls and scrums hould be less generic and more loose and easier to control.
Players taking the bal from a ruck maul or scrum should be able to run in any direction (like in rugby 05) instead of straight forward.
You should be able to do a chip in open play, not just in the set-pieces.
Graphics must be better >_>.
Some decent songs .
Any player should be able to take the bal froma ruck, meaning less stupid turn-overs.
Lineouts should be less generic. Maybe press the D-Pad once to prepare to jump and a second time to jump. With this you could press one button then another to confuse the opposition. e.g. If i pressed the top buttion for the back line-out jumper to catch it, then not press it a second time I could press the right button for the middle jumper to catch it, therefore more fun lineouts.
Players shouldn't be able to punt the ball 60 metres downfield.
The oppostition should adapt to your style of play. Targeting forwardsor backs more, depending on which players you use more.
Full national anthems and being able to skip them. (Also the NZ Haka).
Better ball physics?
That's about it :bravo: Go me o_0

Yeah forgot about some of the Welsh lads, Williams, R.Jones, Cockbain and Charvis I'll add to that list and possibly Thomas, though he's not the player he once was, but M.Jones and Popham are good players, not that exceptional and I wouldn't have included them in that list.

Well, less than a month to go. I'm kind of enjoying not being teased by videos at the moment. Days are going by, and before you know it, it's July 20th and I'll have a copy of my own.

Actually the less we know now, the more we can discover for ourselves.

Still amazed that a game trailer or a website isn't up for it this time. Could it really be the last edition. Those factors don't bode well for the future.

We all need to go out and buy two copies this time!!!

lend me 90bux? lol

i agree with your "the less we know now, the more we can discover for ourselves"

i bought me a new mobile phone and i'm still discovering new lil features, makes me all happy and warm inside  :D
