Rugby World Cup 2011 Official Game

After reading everything here and what has been released I don't think I'll be getting this game. It seems strange that Rugby 2011 will come out in August, a few weeks before the tournament. It just seems like they're going for quick sells. Why not make it a club game too? No matter how good it is the lifespan of the game is going to be what? 2 - 3 weeks tops with just 20 teams.

...forget that, I'm off to Sidhe

Guaranteed when the game comes out you will definitely purchase it no matter what you say, that game will be with you.

The playing field is still wide open both parties have cards close to their chest still.

**** game good game. all i know is i can't wait and i'm gona smash everyone online.

Everyone seems so negative... If the game play is awesome and the Online works well then this game will be a success... And it's a great way for HB to make their first Rugby game on next gen consoles, then next year they can seek more licenses and create a more complete game.

There is still alot to be announced regarding both ***les so lets just wait and see

I've just been reading a thread on the Backbreaker forums, all game forums really are the same.

20 playable teams - that's poor. But then at least there'll be a platform and they can release exactly the same game the following year with club teams, and sting us for a further £40!!

Are you really so naive that you don't understand that there are damn good reasons why a Rugby game hasn't been made in four years? They aren't huge money making exercises. The world cup offers a chance for Rugby in general to have a raised profile throughout the world, during this time there's hope that these companies may actually be able to turn a profit on these games. They aren't milking a cash cow.

Answer me this, do you want both companies to not make any money? If so, you wish for the death rugby games. Making money is a large part of the business world, and also is what pays the bills for all the artists and talent who make the games. I want all involved to make a profit. :D

Anyhow, should they make a profit, do HB and Sidhe not have the right to release another game next year?

Do we want them all to stop?

Do we want to wait another four years?

How about this question, are you regularly making these same comments about the Fifa Series, Call Of Duty, NHL, Assassins Creed, Tiger Woods and others who produce games more often than once every four years?

If you can't afford £40 every year or two, that's a shame but perhaps blame some other companies for making so many games so regularly. With rugby games it makes little sense.

^^^^^^
found that weird really, bit of an odd price. Not complaining tho, thats like 8 quid extra i can spend to go "halfers" on a a crate the night i get the game ;) Saying that, i'm sure it'll go up....

Great post...very sensible thinking.

Video games are very expensive to make and computer game programmers are not everywhere like car mechanics. Their job is highly skilled and quite specialised. Developers won't even bother trying to make a game unless they were confident their predicted sales would be high enough to cover their budget.

It's just a special pre-order deal - they did the same with backbreaker, it'll be £39.99 when it come out, I bet

I would pay $60-70 Dollars every year for a rugby union game on Xbox 360...i am sure they will make good profit this year, i hope we can at least get a rugby union game on xbox 360 and Ps3 every 2 years. 4 years is too long...by then, probably be a new generation Xbox console out.

I suspect the current generation of Consoles will be around for a good 3-4 years yet. They simply don't need to upgrade them now at a rate like they were between the Mega Drive and PS2 - especially when you consider Sony and Microsoft make a loss on the consoles sold and make their money back on software.

Ya, you right...Still few more years for 360 and Ps3; they don't seem to be in any rush to build a new generation console at the moment; i must say i am very happy with my Xbox 360 at the moment. I would prefer Xbox 360 and PS3 to be top of the pile for many years; a new generation console could take a huge lump out of my pocket...won't eat food for a while, LOL.

Hmm only 20 teams and most likely just the World cup mode??... In terms of lasting appeal I can see my self getting bored of this game with in the first week or so.

Haha brilliant! With the amount of times the generic 'this game will be rubbish as it only has 20 teams' statement has come up you should seriously consider adopting this as your sig!

Or of course, could just accept that it's a fair and valid point; and that not everyone has the time, patience or inclination to read 43 pages of thread before making their own post?

You do realise that its also a fair and valid point that load of people are sick and tired of reading the same thing?
