[RWC2019][Pool C] Round 1 - England vs. Tonga (22/09/2019)

Why are people blaming Slade?
He passed exactly where his winger should have been - Daly ****** that and ****** it hard by not knowing basic winger positioning.

I'll need to watch again, it looked like Slade passed the ball straight into touch.
Thing is I think Daly is expecting Slade to immediately flick it on before contact. If he does that, presume Dalys positioning is ok?

We dont normally do handling errors. Tonga have been excellent and disciplined.

Margin of 30. Bonus point. I can live with it. Plenty to work on. Better in a way than a walkover

With Daly as flat as he was it probably would have been forward
Only excuse for Daly being that flat is if he expected a kick, but they were too deep in the 22 for that to have been the plan

Daly always looks like he is nervous and trying ‘too hard’ to execute.
An amazing player that never seems to be consistent. Maybe moving to Sarries will give him the confidence to be better. The whole environment there is about confidence bordering on arrogance.

JJ looks sharp too. Some positives individually, but some silliness.

Teams will be wary of Manu. Might open up some space when we need to play more.

Also. Only conceded 3. Not once did they look like scoring..

Dan Cole has spent over a year in the international wilderness. That's over a year in which someone could have put a brain in his head. Clearly nobody has.

No where near the potential but all England needed to do, happy that Tonga didn’t get ripped a new one too. As frustrated as you English have been with today I would be more than happy to take a similar performance and BP result vs Georgia tomorrow.

Watson looked dangerous, Manu is from another planet and I’m sure the other usual suspects will find they’re feet in time for the Tier 1 Gauntlet of Death you’ll be facing in a couple of weeks.

Couldn’t agree more no injury’s and not to concede a try, bonus point, plenty of positives from a not great overall performance.

Never looked like losing, never even looked like conceding, but that was crap.
Scrum just about held up with first choice and then collapsed with 2nd choice.
Decision across the park was poor,
Handling terrible,

Hopefully we've got that out of our system and can get our heads in the game now, but who knows

Watson and Manu were a class above everyone else out there

Agreed but when we're attacking off loose play, or first phase his ability to come into the line and assist is better. Better than Brown by miles in that aspect, but not as full-back like in others.

Was watching the 6n highlights this week. Daly involved in so many of our scores
