Sam Burgess...What do we think?

totally agree with you there, man. 24 years before that, we would get smashed and lose by a lot more than 1 point !! :D
Uh oh, bratsappendix has just mutated into his rat terrier mode. When you start to see stars appearing everywhere in his posts, he's turned into ratsterrier-ix (not Asterix, silly) and it's too late. The barking becomes an unstoppable mild annoyance, beware Simon. It's been known to cause slight frowning, it's quite something.

As for the actual points being made about Burgess, yeah, he's a line breaker. Why, somebody denying that ? He's a physical specimen first (it appears at least, I've only seen a bunch of highlights - don't do league..), a Rugby player second. He may have good hands, yeah...he's a very big dude who'll do his team a world of good in this modern makeup of the game...he's another MASS Gordon, ready to save the universe (well, England at least..).

MAAASS !!! *booom* AAAH-AAHH !!! His first name for crying out loud is fkng "Mass" backwards, I mean, could it BEE more clear ? Mass Burgess...mmm...I like it...

there should really, really be a TRF token "just block him" theme song...like, "Can't touch dis" yeah, that beat - "Just block him" tahh dah dah dah....yeh, pretty cool..

I've read that three times and still none the wiser. I'll have what your taking Mon ami

Burgess is indeed a specimen, whats important now is that he gets the platform in Union to show it.

I agree with SimonG

Sam Burgess will be the best player in the world then what are the papers gonna say about our lack of a single world class player

ah I see...an uninitiated TRF user...MASS is the Big Ewis way of referring to and identifying the new global tendency in modern Rugby to go for huge specimens, albeit keeping a certain measure of skill (more or less), but completely leaving behind a lot of what made a center a center back in ye olden days or a flanker a flanker. Olivier Magne then and Dan Lydiate today...Damien Traille, and Jonathan Davies (gosh, sorry Wales !..). Sam Burgess is an absolute Messiah from that new gospel of straightforwardness, not just a mere example. He almost embodies (for his body is considerable) this new generation and although it all started well before he'll have joined Union in some months, he will be recognized in some years' hindsight as the new kid, the token from that 2015 RWC period and if anything is an absolute symbol of the confirmation (as if we needed any) that Rugby is going in the direction of MASS ball.
People from Union saw 4min highlight videos of him on YouTube smashing ppl on defense and then breaking the line with great mobility and pure brute strength and immediately said ERRR I WANT !! I WANT !! Ffs I don't even think they know yet where they want to put him, front or back. Do you see the implications of that, what that means ? The commodity is 115kg+ 1m95+ of power. Yes, that product is wanted. We don't even fkng know where we're going to store it, flanker or center (which, mind you are somewhat still a little bit different), but we know one thing: we want it.
That says it all, "mon ami".

Oh and, here, just for you. From my concoction. I don't usually like to compliment myself, but it's utterly magnificent:

In case you need assistance, this is a spinoff of a classic movie theme song. The movie is called Flash Gore Dons, and the composing band was Queers, a brilliant progressive rap jazz outfit from the nineteen twenties.

Exactly!

If he sticks around long enough after the World Cup (tho i have my doubts as a return to the NRL will be a big lure for him) the Lions just may have an Englishman in the back line. ;)

Burgess and Jamie Roberts.

Who's that big hallion playing hurly?

Brings back memory of PE. Cold wet day...wind and rain hitting you side on, and you have to play hurly. Shudders. Maybe it's my ignorance being in the north but I'm convinced that one day the penny will drop in the south regards hurly.

All of the homo.

I don't know what's more annoying the fact Simon trolls every thread he can, or the fact everyone keeps quoting him meaning i still have to read his mindless drivel even though i have him blocked.

Oh so much trolling going on here... You'd think people would notice when he ignores anything that makes his claims look daft! :p

Oh dear. Trolls or not, some of you guys don't get it. If you think Sam is just a blunt instrument you are very much mistaken.

Just because he's big, don't think big is all he is.

This isn't Andy Farrell or even Jason Robinson. It's not a very good player coming when he's past it. Or even a very good player coming in his prime - but to play on the fringes of the game.

This is THE best league player in the world. In his prime. Coming to impact matches for 80 minutes. All 80. He is a highly skilled ball handler, technical runner and tactician. He also just happens to be an absolute monster.

don't think anyone has claimed any different have they?

Most people here appreciate league, and the skills within it and in reference to Sam Burgess are excited to see him play and hope he does well. So I’m not sure where you keep getting this league negativity from. it would also be nice if you took the time to post in the League section here rather than just picking at the Union guys to clearly get a rise.

Most people are taking exception to Simons constant trolling about how p*ss union is, even though he clearly hasn't watched a game in about 3 decades, constantly ignores valid points against his arguments and clearly makes up ridiculous statistics.

He actually complains about both codes. Relentlessly.

You just claimed Jason Robinson switched to union when he was past his prime.
I think that the only troll here is you, and if you aren't trolling then I really suggest you apply to the NHS for a full frontal lobotomy.

Big Ewis, I think they do know where they want him. 6 or 8, but in all honesty the technical elements of back row play will take time to learn and they don't want to waste the commodity while he learns, so stick him in the backs til he's ready. He will be a real force at inside centre.

In two years he may be an international back rower. Three or four years time and I think he'll be the best 6/8 in the world. But let him get us to a world cup final with Manu in midfield first.

No I didn't. Have another read, slowly.

I 'suggested' that Farrell came past his prime and Robinson came and played on the fringes of the game.

I post on a different League forum, which I prefer. Nothing against this League forum.

And please re-read my comments I haven't said anything denigrating that I can recall about union.

no but you are clearly looking to wind people up about Burgess with your "you don't understand him" comments etc...
