Scarlets v London Irish

Great game, really picked up in the second half, didn't expect Scarlets to win, let alone BP

Turning into a very bad year for the English clubs in Europe. You'd predict Munster, Biarritz, Clermont, Stade, Toulouse and Leinster to all top their groups. London Irish have jepordized their position as one of the best runners up while you'd expect Ospreys to take the other one.

wouldn't rule Leicester out in fairness, a win will be enough to see them through and they do have the knack of winning the big games.

You would have thought that Ulster, Sale and Scarlets were all but out, but now all have chances of getting through as a best runner-up.

Great game. Very pleased with the result- If the Scarlets beat Brive with a bonus point next week they'll come second and either go through or get into the Amlin Challenge Cup. The Scarlets looked poor at the start, but sprang to life and played very well. Hopefully Davies, Evans, Owens and co can continue playing well and get into the Wales squad.

What do Scarlets need to do to get a best runner-up spot. Uh, I mean, what other results will influence such an event?

Bonus point win in Brive, then hope that Leinster beat London Irish.

They'd need Munster to beat Saints and deny them a bonus point and also hope that Perpignan can do the same in the second half today.

In pool 3 the runner up is guaranteed to go through.

Ulster could also finish on 18 points, so a win for Bath would end any hopes of that.

While in pool 5 wins for Toulouse and Quins next week would deny Sale and Cardiff Blues the chance of getting to 18 points.

No chance then. :p

Though there's a possiblity of making the Amlin Cup knock-outs. Excellent.

probably the most difficult one out of that lot is getting the bp win in France.

Lads simple as this London Irish got dream start in group then have went on and bottled it in entire group.
Like they lost at home to Scarlets too.

It great now because I really think Munster and Leinster will both win next week and that will mean Munster will be seeded 1 and Leinster 2.
But it interesting now to see what happens in QF places too.

There'll be a runner up in The Clermont, Leicester, Ospreys group.

And if Northampton win today with a bonus point all they'd need is a bp next week to get a second place qualification.

So: London Irish Will have to lose, everything go wrong for Northampton

Then Ulster, Sale and Scarlets are all on 13 points...and Cardiff too.

Actually, if Northampton, Ulster, Scarlets and Sale/Cardiff all finish on 18 how's it calculated?

took a stab in the dark

This was a great game. The Scarlets seem to have the nack of beating LI, yet always get demolished by Leinster. Scarlets really have been Leinsters best friends this campaign, allowing Leinster two easy bonus point victories over them and beating LI home and away.

What this does show is that the Scarlets have plenty of potential with youngsters all over the park. In a couple of years time when they've matured and improved, they will be back towards the top of the pile. Scarlets should stick with Nigel Davies as coach, and stick with this group of telented youngsters. Find someone who can kick for posts (why don't they use Daniel Evans instead when Priestland is playing), because the rest of Prestlands game is superb.
