Sale are set to launch an ambitious bid for Wigan Warriors winger Pat Richards.

Man of Steel winner Richards has been working his way back to full fitness after rupturing his Achilles tendon in the Grand Final win over St Helens in October.

The 29-year-old had initially been linked to a temporary cross-code switch to the Sharks, who have seen leading scoring Tom Brady ruled out with a shoulder injury.

However with Wigan keen to keep hold of the Australia-born Ireland international, Sale are ready to offer him the chance to swap codes at the end of the current Super League campaign.

A Sale spokesman told The Sun: "He has everything it takes to be a great union player."

The RL poaching is becoming tedious. Especially as 90% of code switchers are complete flops.

Apparently they're looking to sign him just for the last part of the season because we've got so many wingers out injured

Stupid because:
a) He's not going to pick up union straight away
b) He's barely back from injury himself
c) We've got academy and 'A' team players who have been playing Union their whole lives who could/should make the step up

He's a good league player but I hope he doesn't switch

This is a bizarre story, a loan deal with another sport. I think this is probably a publicity stunt by Sale.

Apparently Mick Hogan (the CEO of Sale and used to be on the Wigan RLFC board/staff) has said that we're not after him
