Slowest Winger

You guys need to watch Scott Hamilton of the Crusaders. He never makes it to the line with his lack of pace and the poor Crusaders fans are often looking for the support whenever Hamilton is in space. Talk about lack of finishing. Laulala scores a lot of tries from Hamilton having to pass back in after Hamilton gets run down by a lock or prop.

Hamilton is certainly one of the slowest wingers in the New Zealand Super 14 squads, though I'm not sure he's quite as slow as you are making him out to be... The other New Zealand winger that I would add is Paul Williams from the Highlanders (He did break his leg badly a few years ago which may be a contributing factor)

KENNY LOGAN. gets in my all time **** XV.

Hal Luscombe was an embarrassment. Italy have no pace.

There's already a Fastest player/winger" thread so ...

Who do you think is the slowest winger ? :wall:

My pick is Shane Horgan. Possibly this Banahan dude as well. Can't be that big AND fast

*Can't be that big AND fast* They said that about Jonah Lomu, but he was one of the fastest wings around. Bit of an aimless thread because wings are supposed to be fast. I'll not be a party pooper and join in the fun. Ezio Galon who plays for Italy, but is usually a fullback, doesn't seem the quickest. Simon Danielli of Scotland also has a lack of pace.

Remember that Monye is regarded as one of the fastest about though.

Since Cohen bulked out, about the same time as the 2003 summer tour, Cohen lost his pace in exchange for power. He may not be the quickest any more, but he's by no means the slowest. My shout there would probably be Wendall Sailor.

And I lolled at you because you said he [Cohen] is crap. Which is highly amusing considering he was once known world wide as the best in the business. If you pay attention to what he does on the pitch, especially in defence, you'd realise he's far from it.

Ben Cohen, hes crap and slow

short memory. Watch Australia vs England before the 2003 wc and think again. At that time he was rated as the fittest and fastest player in the England squad

Arent we talking of the slowest wingers of now? therefore even although Cohen used to be quicker, he is slow now and useless.

I always loved watching Cohen play for England. He was built like a brick **** house and he had a clean set of heels IMO. I never thought he was slow.

As someone said before, Scott Hamilton is the slowest I have seen in a while. He's a good player though so doesn't matter, I think he's a better fullback anyway.

I remember a while back when NZ played Ireland, Andrew Trimble (or might have been Hickie) got chased down by Ali Williams which was hilarious.

Agreed to be fair to Kenny he did have some good games but his goal kicking was horribly inconsistent and as you say he was very slow. Dont know his name but some Uruguan winger was burned completely from Sititit,Samoas famous flanker.

Hal Luscombe is very slow in real life and on Rugby 08. I shudder everytime I pick Newport and forget to get him out of my starting XV. He can't tackle either.

He got used as a backup winger in the 05 Grand slam. I have never rated him. Don't think he's the slowest, but he'd be down there when playing wing.

Two words: Caleb Ralph. Bubbles is waaay faster than Ralph. By no means is he fast but come on if you're going to pick a slow crusaders wing you gotta go with one of the worst all blacks ever.

You're probably thinking of Anthony Horgan, Munster's old winger in his ... ahem ... last match for Ireland. Dat woz embarashitting alright.

If Hal Luscombe plays winger i'd say he's the slowest. I've also been playing him at Rugby 08 and he's absolutely ****... Caleb Ralph is also worth mentioning as he is very slow
