Sponsorship woes

I can't verify the figures in this article, but if accurate it's underlining some serious financial issues with rugby as well as some laughably kak-handed assessment of the level of interest by potential sponsors.

From a Pro14 perspective it does make me concerned about Guiness having about 5-10 questions about their product in a staff survey.

Anecdotally, I have heard that sponsorship for the 6N is challenging because of the very limited (and fixed) geographical reach of the tournament. I'd imagine that would be a factor. There aren't many companies out there who are interested in the UK, Ireland, France and Italy but aren't so interested in the rest of the EU.

There's laws coming into Ireland restricting alcohol companies advertising. I reckon we should prepare for the "mid-tier financial institution" Pro 14 in the near future.

This makes the SANZAAR look competent. The phrase "**** up" and "brewery" come to mind.
