Amateur rugby players from TRF, what supplements do you have used or recommend for rugby training? Specifically to gain muscle mass and strength.

Here in the southern hemisphere we are in full pre-season, I will start pre-season in a few days.

A physical trainer recommended this product:

"Leukic Hardcore" from Muscletech.

What Online Store with worldwide shipping you know and recommend?

Cheers

A good diet.

Supplements should be used to supplement this diet. Struggling to eat enough to get enough protein? Then use protein shakes to make up the difference.

Don't bother with Leukic.... you're being ripped off.
If fact - stay away from Muscletech or you'll be ripped off.

Like Olyy said - spend your money on your diet.

If you really want to buy supplements then buy some protien.

There are only really two common supplements with a lot of evidence to support their effectiveness and they are: caffiene and creatine.
That's not to say that all other ingredients don't work, but they will more than likely have very limited effects and will not represent good value for money.

If you really want to use supplements because you don't feel you can improve your nutrition through whole foods then try these:

...now, remember that taking those is not going to turn you into a sexual tyrannosaurus.
It'll help you recover and improve the effectiveness of your pre-season.

As a more general warning to everyone who is interested in using creatine... remember that the only source of creatine to have significant scientific backing is creatine MONOHYDRATE.
And that 99.9% of all creatine monohydrate is manufactured by Creapure but packaged and sold for ludicrous prices by other companies.
Creatine (Creapure) should be dirt cheap (no more than £20 per KG) and paying for some fancy "delivery system" isn't going to do ****.

I'm from the older days of rugby, so my supplements were

Beer
Peanuts

;)

I have a few friends who swear by the Paleo diet for bulking up (basically, only eat things a caveman would have available to eat). Not entirely convinced, but they do have a good 'protein/carbs/lipids(fats)' ratio for before/after training, that seem to work.
