I have no problem with people making jokes about Religion, I just think it is a but much to be getting offended when someone makes a joke about a language when the person getting offended has a sig making fun out of religion. Seems a but hypocritical to me is all.

Im afraid MunsterMan you have become very PC, the talking point is here is the fact I learnt Welsh first before English. Nothing else im afraid, I will be amazed if I find someone who really is offended to the signature (I assume some clown will come in shortly and say he is offended). In many Welsh speaking areas in Wales there are a few people who are dyslexic for the simple reason they learnt Welsh before English. It can't be helped so get over it.

Sorry but that is complete rubbish. Nobody can become dyslexic because they learnt Welsh before English, its just they are dyslexic!!!!

Its not an excuse old man its fact. Ive been tested and theres one or two people who were also in the same class at primary school (I attended a Welsh medium primary school) who have also suffered the same. Im afraid danny you are wrong and it dont just affect people who learnt Welsh first, it also affects people who have learnt other languages first before English and then go onto attend an English Medium school.

Forgive me if I'm misinformed (Although another page on the link you provided it confirms this) but isn't dyslexia a neurological condition?
Its not that you learned to speak Welsh first, its that the English language is a bugger for anyone with dyslexia because the letters and sounds are so unrelated.

That's probably not the reason you're dyslexic, it is probably the reason you were diagnosed with it.

That sounds about right, I learn't Welsh first, and I'm fine with English (well not great, but then I'm not good with languages full stop). My brothers got dyslexia and he struggles with English but not Welsh, as Welsh is a relitively easy language for the brain to comprehend (untill the treigliadau etc. start). The Welsh language is quite phonetical, as in words are pronounced as they appear. This is unlike English were there are silent letters, and where letters are pronounced differently depending on the word/what they follow.
Basically this all means that people who suffer from dyslexia will struggle with the English language, but get along quite fine in Welsh. This is probably your case Cymro, and your dyslexia wasn't caused by the fact that you learnet Welsh before English, but it was only picked up when you started learning English.
