Indeed. I think it's pretty clear that Simon is just a disgruntled Northern Irishman that resents the state of soccer in Ireland and has a massive chip on his shoulder about rugby because it's the only major sport in Ireland that unites the country.
Why else would he spend so much time on the forums of a sport he quite clearly hates? It's really rather pathetic.
