At 9:30pm (2030 GMT), two and a half hours after leaving the port of Civitavecchia, the Costa Concordia hit a rocky outcrop as it sailed past the island of Giglio.

My Dad was on this ship about three-four years ago, and told my aunt during the emergency drill that if this ship ever sank it would be chaos evacuating it. He also wrote a complaint about the Captain not looking properly attired and/or possibly hungover during the captain's dinner but he dosen't think it was the same Captain as the one involved here who he says looks younger.

He bottled it, lost control and ultimately he was at fault for the loss of lives on the ship.
