Snoop while Botha is been looked at I can say it nothing major yet and don't read too much in to Mushy leaving as that won't happen in my view as he has no reason to go and he has IRFU backing here. Mike Ross is a Munster man but I think if Leinster are offloading props the Ross won't be 1. Borlase will come good from next season I feel as he does need time to adjust

Check the Clermont game before you comment on that. Ross is a machine. A scrum machine one might say.
Was only kidding =P
Can't really recall noticing Ross before, but the amount Buckley was talked up on here, then got pulverised by everyone he came up against, thought it could be a case of that

Naw, Ross is ace in the scrum. It's baffeling why he doesn't start for Ireland.

Back to BJ Botha, I'd love to have him at Leinster. Cian Healy, Heinke van der Merwe, Stan Wright, Mike Ross and BJ Botha would represent an unbelievably strong set of props. It would allow Leinster send Jack McGrath and Stewart Maguire off to Connacht to learn their trade, see them cut the below par Clint Newland and Ben Prescott adrift and move Jack O'Connell up to a development contract and B&I Cup action.

The knock on effect would be Ulster starting Tom Court at tighthead but they'd need competition. There was an interview with John Andress in the BelTel a couple of weeks ago- perhaps that was Ulster rugby's way of familiarising the nordie public with the Quins tighthead. Simon Shawe has done an excellent job at Leinster when called upon and would probably relish a shot to move back to his home province if even as 2nd or 3rd choice number 3. It would represent a step back for Ulster to lose Botha but could be compensated for with a top quality 10 or 15 being signed.

Munster represents the most sensible option though but I'd hate to see him end up there! Get rid of Buckle and Hayes and their bloated salaries, start Botha regularly with Borlase coming on after 55 minutes and push Stephen Archer up to 3rd strong tighthead.

Possible Leinster squad:
Fullback: Isa Nacewa, Rob Kearney
Winger: Luke Fitzgerald, Shane Horgan, Fionn Carr, Andrew Conway
Centre: Brian O'Driscoll, Gordon D'arcy, Eoin O'Malley, Fergus McFadden
Flyhalf: Jonathan Sexton, Shaun Berne, Ian Madigan
Scrumhalf: Eoin Reddan, Isaac Boss
Loosehead prop: Cian Healy, Heinke van der Merwe, Jack O'Connell
Hooker: Sean Cronin, Richardt Strauss
Tighthead prop: Mike Ross, BJ Botha, Stan Wright
Second Row: Leo Cullen, Nathan Hines, Devin Toner, Ed O'Donoghue
Blindside Flanker: Sean O'Brien, Kevin McLaughlin
Openside Flanker: Shane Jennings, Dominic Ryan
Number Eight: Jamie Heaslip, Rhys Ruddock

Agreed with Buckley comment, he showed promise in Summer tour and we got excited but now I'm thinking was he just good because the rest were so bad.

BJ Botha would be good for us and well I can't see him joining Leinster simply because they have enough NIQ guys and well simply don't need it.

Munster out
Buckley
Hayes
Quinlan
Mafi
Warwick
Touitupou?

Munster in
Keatley
Smith
a tighthead possibly botha
At least one back row
a 12

If Botha does leave Ulster I think it will be for Munster.Joe Schmidt rates Mike Ross highly and Stan Wright adds quality competition when he returns which will limit Bothas game time.I think a move to Munster will ensure regular game time ahead of Buckley and Hayes who are pretty poor in the scrum.

No one's going to be able to afford two absolutely top class Tightheads under the English wage cap its true, not unless they're not terribly bothered about other areas of the team. But they're hardly crippled.

That aside,

Dear Ladyboys and Turnipstanis

Get your thieving mitts off of Botha.

Yours sincerely,
Fake Nordie.

... seriously, I think this one is just paper talk. Or so I hope. Botha's denied the Munster move on his twitter (no one asked him about Leinster), I'd be surprised that the PAG would allow a NIQ tighthead ahead of either Buckley or Ross. It'd be a serious act of faith in Court/Fitzpatrick/whoever we've got lined up if we were to do it and I speak as a fan of both. I hope not John Andress.

I hope he stays full stop to be honest.
