Not a bad signing if it pays off perhaps Weepu feels he needs a challenge to try and get him out of his rut. and it could work.

If it works then Welsh will have a decent goal kicker who is experienced enough to boss the pack and take control at the breakdown, also the kicking game should be a factor.

I'd be amazed if he's in anything remotely resembling "decent" condition, or even slightly motivated to play for them.
We'll see - but I think he's going to spend more time in the queue at Shake-Shack than on the watt-bike.

To be fair he is in much better shape than he was post-WC when he was terribly unfit and over weight during his first season for the Blues. He isn't going to be able to play a fast game, that's part of the reason he was dropped from the ABs, but he does have great game management and is a better goal kicker than Gordon Ross so those are two positives. Still it's a very weird signing.

so Kurtley Beale could be heading to League I hear ? Just now that he's hit top form, that sucks if it happens...he's just 25 yo, and has lots of flashy sparkly Wallaby Rugby if he wants...he plays a ton of positions, and looks so good these days. Losing Nick Cummins is okay, but Beale would really be a shame. I don't want to fkng watch League now to follow the dude.

Those who think the Tuilagi's are going to turn around Newcastle's fortunes will be disappointed. Andy Tuilagi simply just isn't half as good a centre as Manu is, and Alesana Tuilagi is 33 years old and spent the last 2 year eating pies in Japan (his side only played him 6 games last season). As I pointed out on the Transfers thread, it is also ironic that Dean Richards who slagged off David Lemi as too old would then go on and give a 2 year contract to a player who is even older and also in far worse condition. Alesana Tuilagi will be 35 by the time his contract is up. His work rate has never been his strong point at the best of times, so what will he be other than a large lump on the wing who's lost his pace by the time he's 35? Bizarre signing, surely if Dean Richards wanted a big lump he could have gone and got a cheaper, younger one?

I admit as a Falcons fan it was very strange to see Dean Richards sign Alesana after calling Lemi to old, personally I think we have recruited pretty well but could of done better in certain areas a quality 10 was a must for most Falcons fans but that never really happened. Apparently we are getting a international lock from the Southern Hemisphere probably another Pacific Islander.

I wonder what this means position-wise. I suspect Cardiff will want to use him as a 15 (because they have Patchell at 10) but I suspect Wales will want him at 10 (because Gatland doesn't seem to like Biggar, and he won't remove Halfpenny).

Will Patchell be asked to make way and pick another position? If not, will Gatland play Halfpenny or Anscombe out of position on the wing? Or will Wales just risk playing him at fly-half, even if he doesn't play there for club?

Of course, this is all getting ahead of myself. He first has to earn a call-up. But if he does, it will put Gatland in a potentially difficult position.

Also if Owen Williams beats Burns for the 10 shirt and keeps progressing he must be considered for the Welsh 10 spot in the 6N.

Absolutely not from a Cardiff perspective. Although Wales did play him at 12 in one of the Japan games in 2013, but it was a disaster.

As far as I am aware the Blues firmly want Patchell at 10. He was carrying the side for the first half of last season before his knee injury.

I imagine the Blues would want Anscombe at 15 and Patchell 10. Whether that has to change because of the deal is another matter, but I can only see Patchell going to 15 because that's where the Halfpenny shaped hole is.

The thing I saw said headed north of the south west, not specifically the north, so that'd include London welsh, Gloucester, saints and tigers (and several championship sides).
