TRF RUGBY 08 PATCH SEASON 20-21

@geostar

Hi Team,

I've been following this forum since 09', so I consider myself an OG of this forum, it's only been until recently that I've actually started to look into modding Rugby 08 & I wish I had of this done sooner, so I contributed more of my time into the patches.

This may not be the most appropriate section to be posting such a comment as it extends across multiple threads posted within this forum, but here goes

I've recently edited both be2970b0ada8e42cf891ce60ffe69575.xml & dc371d84ed784cf88a8d8bc38a.english files to add the Barbarians Team back into Rugby 08., by replacing Timisoara (Representative) which effectively replaced them. I've been able to replace the modified .big files with the original files. however, I've noticed the team kits, TV swipes & logos are still appearing with the modified files? (see attached)

I've also attempted to edit 119ba3f37fe7a31c2b2ee45ceeafa091.xml to update the default Home Stadium for the Barbarians which appears within Play Now, however, it still appears as Italy instead of Twickenham? Does anyone know which files within the data.gob relate to the Barbarians kits & or the above?

Within the last few months, I've modified the Lions Tour, as I noticed Bristol that appeared in place of NZ Maori in the NZ Tour & the Sunwolves appeared instead of the Rebels in the Aus Tour. With regards to the World League, I've noticed that within 2de97b250f07a369610d6087471b7aad.xml contains a list of players that are no included within the existing update, this may have contributed to the game crashing if the Player ID's haven't been updated.

I've also noticed regarding Stadiums 53c83ad71865b7bf73f61e1ec42dee0f.xml contains the relevant values for determining the number of TV splashes, Camera Flashes relevant to each stadium & weather type

I was wondering if anyone knew the filenames of the Boot Kits, Menu Screens & Kits for the latest update?

I've been reading previous comments & noticed that a few people have commented on the CyberFaces within the current Patch, I happen to have the vast majority CyberFaces from the MUP10 Update, as well as the TV Splash Mod (Sky Sports, ESPN & Fox Sports).

For Rugby Stats, I've been using rugby pass to update the ratings of the players, unfortunately, I couldn't link the site into this thread :(

If possible, I'd like to contribute more to the current patch or future updates <3
You can check ama1's new thread, he list all file names with descriptions. To assign a stadium to a team, I use the team editor.

In the past i have also used rugbypass's index but it hasnt been updated in a while.

Appreciate the reply legend
I think each time I run the updated editor on Windows 10, I keep experiencing the .rdf file issue
I think I may need to export the original .rdf file from the data.gob & replace the .rdf file in the Rugby08 folder.
Do you have any ideas of how to fix any of the other issues?

I uploaded a new version...this time I put the crowds back into the game and mucked around with the set plays to make the AI way harder to defend against.
I moved the fly half position so that they run onto the ball flat and attack the defensive line, plus I put the original Western Force kits in.
I found the game waaay more fun this way.

I was wondering, is it possible to modify the starting position of the 1st receiver with the various passing options from rucks?
Also is the File List compatible with the Petey83 mod?

Ever since I updated to Win 10 the new editor gives an error when opening a roster with face preview on (dont know if anyone has a fix for this?)

I used the new roster to assign faces, but when setting the roster to default (rdf) i used the old roster. I just copy the original rdf file into the old roster folder and set as default.

@ama1 recently discovered how to adjust the starting position for flyhalf, so I would suspect that there is some file within the gob that does this.

To my understanding, @ama1 's patch is sort of like a fix patch to @peter83 's one. Some stuff will align but where @ama1 fixed teams/tournaments it would differ

Thanks again legend.

Same, I haven't been able to find a solution to disabling the Face Preview Editor in the new Roster Editor. :(

Although the scores within the game at times are quite realistic, I'm still unable to modify the Performance Ratings of each team.
I did notice, however, after reading a few older posts that Wilko had released his own Roster Editor that allowed you to modify Team Ratings, but none of the links work.

I was trying to see which teams were replaced from MUP17, so I could include Moana Pacifica into my old Patch.

In terms of Stadiums has Optus Stadium replaced Subiaco Oval, I noticed a few easter eggs in the old patch HAHA

I'll send you team editor later on, you just have to set performance to 1 to 5. The performance are reversed for world league though.

Eg World League - Performance 5 teams will mostly be teams on top of the table

All other tournaments - Performance 1 teams will most be teams on top of the table

Im not sure about stadiums though

Here's my new roster - along with a fix for numerous crashes.
I reassigned peter83's kits and graphics to suit.

No crashes at the end of a game.
All modes should work, as I have just overwritten the existing teams from the original game.

World League recruitment is fixed.
All teams are 99.9% accurate.
Added new in game music.

Over the next week or so, I'm going to work on a few edits

Removing gloves, editing the tournaments and maybe add a few new videos
(if anyone want's to contribute a new intro video - let me know)
and loading screens to give the game a complete overhaul.

Here's the link (192mb)

Instructions for noobs.

Unrar using Winrar.
Extract the main folder contents into your main Rugby08 Directory.
Copy the pro and ros folders into your Documents/EA SPORTS(TM) Rugby08 folder
good job mate , but the weak teams is beating the better teams . Any chance of changing that ?

Much appreciated brother
I'm guessing, that 5 would be the worst?
I really want to try & get edit the new editor to work

Just update the teams.csv to correspond with ama1's.

Yes 5 will be lower ranked teams for all tournaments except the WL

I have managed to fix this.
I checked the rdf file in a hex editor and saw that the performance ratings were the opposite (as suggested by geostar).
I manually edited the rdf in hex so that the teams rated 1 in the roster are rated 5 in WL and so on..
I have reuploaded in the other thread.

ama thanks for the reply, are you able to advise how you were able to get the old editor to work? also, were you able to look over my previous thread?

Has anyone figured out how to get Ten Nations to work in Rugby08?
Everytime I remove the un-needed .big the game crashes

I never used any of the editors to do rosters. I do it all via hex and excel. That way I can compare stats between players and rank accordingly. I have made my own spreadsheets to do this.
Over the years, I've learnt that there are 100 bytes for each player. Each byte represents a value for a corresponding attribute or face id/ skin colour / nationality..etc.

I could share it, but it would need an accompanying tutorial to understand. It's a lot accurate this way, as you can rank flankers by tackle ability, wingers by acceleration, all forwards by rucking, all players by strength...etc

I dont use rugbypass index to rank the players. I think the rankings are a bit biased imho.
If I remember correctly, ten nations was left in there from rugby 06. I dont think its playable as a competition (I could be wrong and haven't looked into it).

Just update the teams.csv to correspond with ama1's.

Is there a simpler way of updating the teams.csv file? Does this file reference the CodeID or TeamName within the be2970**.xml file?

This sounds like a more accurate way of editing rosters because atm I have to assign individual performance ratings & adjust individual attributes to each player.
I have a suspicion the individual Performance Ratings in many cases are overridden by the team's Performance Rating :(

I do feel there is some inherent bias which favours top-tier teams * players who are more active. but it's the individual performance stats which I focus on more

Ive been using your excel editor mostly when I do mass editing, makes editing a lot easier, only asign faces using the roster.

Yeah I also think some ratings are way of (seems they favor the English). Its here where i downgrade some of them to my liking, as there are alot of players (mostly Europe) that I have never seen play to give them a rating

Any chance of viewing the current excel spreadsheet? I love the idea of roster editing, but have no technical skills to do so. Also would be interesting to easily compare Northern and Southern hemisphere player stats.

Just check page 2 of the rugby 08 forum for a thread named half completed roster patch or something by ama1. In page 2 or 3 he uploaded his editor. You can read on where I asked questions you might have on using the editor

Ten nations is playable, but the log table is messed up
I was able to modify the tournament file for Tri-Nations, however, for whatever reason I couldn't inject it back into data.gob without Biggui making it corrupted :(
I was hoping to export the data from Rugby06, but I haven't seen any references to the Rugby 06 files, anywhere online.
If I recall, the Lions Tour Mod for Rugby 08 had the exact same Fixture Table as Rugby 06

I haven't attempted to modify the new Roster Editor, yet but I think to update the Teams.csv, it references the CodeID, not that I have an issue with this, but it's very tiresome.
I realized that the Team Editor uses the same exact interface as the Standalone Face Editor, I'm curious as to how it calculates the individual player attributes based on a single Team Rating Attribute?

Thanks I completely missed the line about making each row 100 bytes. No wonder I struggled!
