Wales v NZ

And I absolutely mean this. The state of Welsh rugby is a travesty and the sooner it gets sorted and we can all start worrying about them again, the better. And that's from a hated Englisher

I dont think anyone, including the most ardent or deluded Welsh fan disagrees!

I for one embrace our new position in the global standing of our beloved sport. The pressure is off and we can now concentrate on being the best thugs we can be. I want them to channel their inner Phil Pugh and see 99 calls in every game where we turn around and punch the nearest opposition player (or Beard if he's next to you)

I want the hot potato "fast hands" training abolished and for all players to train night and day in the octagon at the Vale.

You may think I'm joking but ask yourself this, would you watch 15 hardworking Welshman spark out a whole team of New Zealand All Blacks who then come off the pitch crying for their mum? Sure, we might lose the game by 80 points but we would've claimed the moral victory.

Gwyn Jones says Mann has been a revelation the last 2 games. **** me. This is where we are now. Adam Beard is world class and Ben Thomas is then best 10/12 hybrid in the world. Anything else, ummm, Cracknell is a powerhouse at international level? Josh Adams is still the best finisher in the world? I can't take it anymore. It's like I'm watching a completely different game.

Have you met Beard? Im not a dmall guy, im about 6'5 ish, and hes taller and wider than me, hes a monster of a man, most of the backline would be lucky to swipe a nipple while swinging at him, he certainly made me feel small!

You never answered my question. Who wins in the cage between Beard and Rhys Davies?

Wainright is quality, and hasnt looked bad at all, hes just playing behind a beaten pack poor git.
No I agree. I’m a Wainwright fan and wish he was playing but happy Morse should get some mins.

If I was coach, working with this squad so can’t select Reffell, I would be going Plumtree, Deaves, Wainwright with Morse on the bench. If Wainwright got injured then I’d be starting Morse.

Targets:

Get to HT within 15 points.

Keep the loss to 25 points

Score 3 tries

The problem with targets like those, is that it means that Wales would have to abandon the Sheratt gameplan, and well we know thats not going to happen. Mann will still hang around on the wing, Wales will refuse to be abbrassive, pop the ball out the back door continuously, and look to try to flank teams, all the while getting caught in transition and conceding cheap points

We scored 4 tries against Argentina so the try one should be a given really.

I’m more concerned about the other 2 but then I remind myself that Deaves is playing and I know everything will be fine.

Like every team at every level Wales will strain every sinew in this test match. But I now see Wales as I do Samoa, Tonga, Japan, that being a tier 2 team that can pose threats at times throughout test matches, but ultimately will not be strong enough to live with the top 1-8 in the world.
This is no shame, personally international sides ranked 7th-13th and a couple just outside of that are getting more competitive and that bodes well for the game more widely (especially if more sides continue to develop and push into the top 6, as say Fiji May do if they continue to move forward as they are).
The All Blacks are in transition themselves (and wouldn’t we all give certain body parts to be in transition and still sit 2nd in the world). But they need to show the other big hitters in SA, England, France and to an extent Ireland that they are going nowhere, and also to a expectant New Zealand rugby public that -although respectfully- they can take teams like Wales to the cleaners.
I am certain Wales will pose questions in this test match for the ABs to solve, but will this simply be transiently slowing down their scoring?

We have players that should be more than capable of mixing it with teams in 6th-11th. The fact we can't and instead struggle beating Japan at home is a mixture of poor coaching and psychological issues in my opinion.

I have a feeling wales may beat NZ

News reports suggest that the wru have loaned Glamorgan cricket's scoreboard from Sophia gardens to make sure they can keep up with the score. They plan to ask the pro clubs to pay for it whilst they manage the installation.IMG_7711.jpeg

Id put my mortgage on an English grand slam over a Welsh victory today...
Yeah, it's a safer bet to be fair. In all likelihood Wales won't win today and England will fail to add to their Grand Slam tally of 2 in the last qtr of a century with the last one being almost a decade ago.
