What's your squad look like?

Name me individuals who have gone when not ready
I mean Marcus Smith went as prem winner what has he done since? 4 years on and he's prob still England 2nd choice 10 and prob going to be 3rd choice 10 in this tour.

What did he gain from that 2021 Lions tour?
Martin Johnson 93, Jerry Guscott 89, Will Greenwood 97, Neil Back 97, BOD 01, Keith Earl 09, Owen Farrell 13. I would also question whether it was the Lions tour that stalled Simmons and not Eddie Jones's selection policy.

The overall experience of a Lions tour is great development for any player regardless of where they are in their career.

Not sure it came from that tour in particular, but he's gone from a flashy highlight goose kick player to a superb game manager as well (fight me, he is) and evolved his game massively in that 4 years.

What would you want as proof of gaining something?

Well that's what I wanting to hear.
What is it they gain that translates them into developing more?

Ah right I'm with you now. Suppose it's hard to tangibly say, like it is for almost any situational learning. You're in the highest performance environment you'll be in, so you're bound to learn

Stolen is a bit much. Hansen getting a lot of flack, first off not sure how many have watched him recently because he's been class and secondly his mum is Irish. He's not a residency player.

Also far from the first tour to have residency players.
Yeah not as many though? I have said this before but there needs to be a different criteria for Lions selection. If you've played ages group rugby for someone other than the 4 nations in question you shouldn't be available for selection.

Got to hand it to James Lowe, not an Irishman or a Moari but has played for both! (Still a twat)

What annoys me about Lions tours is when a player has one good game against the President's invitational 15 and gets catapaulted into the test team ahead of players that have been playing better than him all year. A 50 point thrashing against a reserve team is no basis to judge selection.

Does that really ever happen?

The only Lions bolter I really remember was Jason Robinson who was kinda a special case.

Yeah, isn't the one of the whole things with the lions is the "dirt track team" that just tour so they can go off and play the club sides in the middle of nowhere?

Obviously worse back in the day than it is in recent years, but I can't really think of anyone elevated above their status because them - maybe Monye? But he was flavour of the week that season after his breakthrough for England

The kit needs revamping.

The shirt is Welsh red.

The socks are Scottish blue with a flash of Irish green.

The shorts are English white. But as all 4 countries wear white shorts as a matter of course that doesn't really translate into something really identifiably English.

The kit should alternate between colours, either match by match or tour by tour.

Or maybe by representation - doesn't seem right that Ireland with the highest representation only get a green sock flash or Wales with virtually no tourists get the shirt colour.

Of all the things to nitpick about in rugby...

You definitely shout at kids to get off your lawn 🤣

We have the kit in Black to represent all the "Irish" players?

Im not talking about bolters. Im talking about players that jump up a place in the queue because of one good game against a weak provincial side.
Ben Teo in 2017 is the prime example.
Elliott Daly in 2021.
It also annoyed me in 2005 when Gavin Henson had been the best inside centre in the 6 nations then he started the Lions tour quietly so didn't get selected for the Tests.

Don't remember a single thrashing of a Presidents invitation 15 in about 2 decades

So Curry off injured last night and LCD limping...we await the feedback

Would AJ MacGinty be eligible for the Lions?
Born and raised in Ireland, but plays for USA because of residency he did over a decade ago

Presumably he would need to be eligible to play for Ireland now which would mean his last cap for USA would need to have been over 3 years ago.
