Not sure if this has been covered yet, but when I chose "Save Defaults", the defaults are all screwed up in the game (when you reset to defaults). All the teams have weird ratings and statistics and the game just crashes when you try and load.

While I'm at it, a really handy feature to have, that would allow fast (rough) editing of the entire roster is the ability to filter the "Global Stats" buttn with a couple of drop-down boxes. The first to select position, the second to select team.

So for example, you could select "all props" in the game and edit all their stats at once. Or you could filter it to all Irish props.

If your talking about faces you need to put them into the .big file. and into C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\EA SPORTS™ Rugby 08

Havnt seen anything with this before. sure the roster you are using doesnt screw up as well before you save defaults?

Had thought about this but was going to be a bit too much to program.

Yeah it's fine. It's even fine after the game screws up. If I go back to the editor and load the roster it comes out okay. Just in the game it's all rubbish, for example, some team ratings are 0 and others are over 100.

Surely not lazy bones! ;)

:wah:

Yup... just doubt checked and fiddled around with it a bit.

The "set as defaults" button never works for me, it just mucks up all the statistics and settings in the game. If you load the roster, either through the game, or through the editor, everything looks fine. It's only when that roster is set as defaults.

It may have something to do with the Rugby08.ros roster that I downloaded form one of these stickies. That's the one I have been using. Even if I download it fresh, load it in the editor and then save as defaults without doing anything at all, it all stuffs up.

Anyone else have this problem or just me?

Hey, guys, I'm having troubles with the "set as default" button too. Actually, I don't even know if the problem is there; but after I first modified the teams stats (so since the first version of the Editor that permitted to change them, and up to now), and then set them as default, I could no more play both the Challenge mode and the World league mode. I guess it has something to do with the team stats and/or with "set as default" button.
Does anybody know what the problem may be and what I could do in the case?

Another thing that may help you guys is that the whole things got ok for a little while, after I had uninstalled a previous version of Woosaah's Editor (before installing the newer one), and after I had installed one of the patches you can find in these forums, the MegaUpdatePatchV1.zip (with only graphics in there, and no roster changes). But when I installed the newer version of Woosaah's Editor and I set as default the same roster that was already there, with few changes (but none about the the teams stats), it started back the old way: it just crashes when you choose the team (in the World League) or when you choose the match to play (in the Challenge mode).

Everything else just works fine, and I want to thank all you guys for your GREAT job, you've really made this game worth to play.

There's just this little bug, but I would like to finish the Challenge mode to see if there's any Lions team in the game or something like that. (by the way, has anybody finished it? Are the Lions there? Or what?)

Thanks for your help! I hope I've expressed the problem well, ask, if you don't understand.

Since I dont have the game anymore can someone send me a clean roster (ie one that hasnt been tampred with at all) and the rdf file of that clean roster (push set to defaults) and ill see whats going on there.

someone could just give me their rdf and roster that is playing up as well, just to see what the problems are.

and yes i am too lazy to do that thing for global edit. though some people would say that i work alot. i didnt get to bed til 2am last night cause of work :(

Regarding the global edit bug. I've checked the files and it seems the only thing that is changed when I do a global edit is that rdf file is created in the root directory. None of the other files seem to be modified at all (judging by their "last modified" time in Windows Explorer), and if I delete the rdf file the roster reverts back to the initial EA default roster. I'm not sure how that works (how does the game know to look for that file??), but obviously it has some effect! I will save the EA-default roster from the game and also I will use the same default roster and "set as defaults" and send you the mucked up rdf file.

God I'd really love a global edit feature.

My idea is that you could reset every player to a "default" set of statistics for their position (slow, strong props etc). Then you could modify them by team to represent various team strengths and weaknesses that are not accurate in the game (Italy stronger in the pack and bad handling in the backs, for example), and then lastly you could go through and edit individual "star" players for each team to make them unique and stand-out a bit more (or weaken some players who have obvious weaknesses).

I would have though it would only require a couple of drop-down lists to select position and nationality and then some kind of IF-statement in the formula that loops through the roster records to make sure only players of those nations and teams are changed. I have no idea though. Hehe.

What language is the editor programmed in? I could possibly have a crack at adding those global edit features myself. I've a basic understanding of Java and C#. It would make a huge difference to roster editing.

Anyway, I'll get those files onto you in a few minutes....

Oh ... one more question ... do the actual "team statistics" (for scrummaging, etc.) have any effect on performance on field, or are they just for show?

Hey woosaah

I've got a problem,as you know I've edited the roster for rugby 08,I've used the set as default feature but when I try to start a new world league the game crashes and its not only me that gets this seems like everyone who uses my roster get the error...
I think it must be something to do with the .rdf file because when I delete it the world league works okay but then the team line-ups are the old default ones with the useless players in them (P.Chupin,G.Nawali ect.)
Im using the latest version of your editor, any help would be appreciated!

Cheers
Ross

This is the same problem of mine. Ross munro have you tried to play the Challenge mode? Does it work? In my case, I can't play neither the World League nor the Challenge mode after setting my roster as default.
