In Australia's newspapers was an article about how the Scottish coach and their captian say that they can knock Australia off.

Are you sure it didn't say 'out' instead of "off"?

Hard ******** the Scottish.

Not up to much in cricketing terms though.

Aus have started well in the warm ups, 2 wins with Hogg finally getting some wickets and Tait looking quick as usual.

Knock off can mean to beat.

Yes, I do understand what to "knock off" means.

Thanks for making it ultra clear though.

You're very welcome

Scotland 100/6 chasing 334 by aussie. Ponting got 113 and Hayden got 60. A quick fire 40 by Hogg off 15 balls helped them to an alirght total against the scots.

McGrath 3/14 off 6 after being first change.

Ha! and Scotland were mouthing off saying they had a chance lol...good performance by McGrath and Hayden.

I really want to see Gilchrist fire though...he hasn't been himself of late

Geez, what`s the story with the "minnow" teams at this CWC? Fair enough, smashing 36 in an over`s pretty impressive, so is Boucher breaking the great Brian Lara`s record for the fastest 50 in the CWC- but it means precisely zero IMO. Also, what did this game mean for the Dutch? Getting farked up 6-0 really- can`t do much good for the game back home. Heck, if the game wasn`t reduced to 40 overs, they might`ve been the 1st side to concede 500 in an ODI- just who wins in such a scenario? Certainly not the minnows, the CWC or cricket in general, that`s for sure.

Shouldn`t the associates rather be playing in lesser tournaments, against lesser opposition, growing their confidence and, crucially, their skills-levels before being subjected to this type of slaughter?

The Scots weren`t too much better against the Aussies- with no1 and no2 on the current ICC log being let loose against them, pretty much expected really.

I agree with you, but if that were to be considered, the argument would be that without them it wouldn't be a tru world cup. To be a true world cup there needs to be teams from all over the world.

Maybe something like the Plate and Shield series that they have on the Rugby Sevens series- more regular competition, and the chance to expand their skills levels. Everyone who follows the 7`s series can see how much it`s done for a lot of the smaller African teams in particular- and they`ve come up with some pretty hefty upset wins, and it`s been great for the growth of the game of 7`s.

Unfortunately, the minnows just aren`t up to it at this stage, and it`s definately not good for cricket in the Netherlands, Canada etc. Getting beaten up like that, it`s just pointless.

They already play against each other, they had to qualify to get into this world cup. I think that it is good for the teams. They get to learn by playing the big guns. it also exposes their fans to a different brand of cricket, and it will inspire the young people in their country to play for their country. but thats my opinion.

I dont enjoy the big thrashings but i dont think there is anything wrong with it.
