3.hayman
4.eaton
5.jack
6.collins
7.mccaw
8.lauaki

9.weepu
10.carter
11.rokocoko(no tries..but ya can see hes quality is still above most other wingers)
12.mauger
13.muliaina (ohhh boy..he needs to up his defence with solid hits and he will get there)
14.gear
15.mcdonald(k.o'd once again..but thats why u have reserves)

16.somerville
17.mealamu
18.flavell
19.masoe
20.cowan
21.nonu
22.sivivatu

hmmm..these guys seem to have performed well now and the backs cover alot of other positions

theres three 1st 5s in that starting backline alone...with mills who can play wing, fullback aswell with nonu as a midfielder and winger and the two specialist wingers

lock is one problem again in our game thats looking real dodgy..thats why i chose flavell on the bench as he covers lock aswell as flank..hes an amazing worker not technically as good as jack or eaton tho..who i feel have been the best allround locks in nz..i look at the aussies and saffers and thats one thing they truly have over us in set piece is that there lineouts are more consistant and are better technically...and better organised

our scrums have been awesome!..all of our franchises have provided huge firepower from our tough as scrums!!!..and our loosies in general are world class throughout..every nz team has there player that can play in big game situations

guys who are finding some strong form as of late
nick williams,rua tipoki,mose tuialii,brad mika,josh blackie,sean honeck,sosene anesi,anthony tuitevake,the whole hurricanes and crusaders forward packs :D

looking good nz

I agree with much of that team. I must say though, half of the positions aren't exactly "solid" this year are they?

I'm yet to decide whether that's a good or a bad thing.

Rokocoko has been playing in a silly unstructured team, so it's difficult to judge just how good he is at the moment.

On the other hand, Gear is playing in a brilliantly structured team so it's difficult to judge him as well....Even Ralph is looking good.

Midfield is my only major worry (or should that be Mauger). I've always wanted McAlister to play 2nd 5 outside Carter for the AB's, with Smith outside him. Connykins f***ed himself up so he needs replacing. Muliaina hasn't been brilliant, although neither has the team he's been playing in... Far too difficult to pick a centre pairing.

its easy if your a spectator...

plus i dont think maa nonu gets the recognition he deserves..as he is pratically the most feared ball carrying midfielder in the super14..however i dont believe he belongs in a backline full of attacking talent to start off with...and belongs more so in a defensive/conservative team where he can just focus on what he does best..run and bump off defenders

mauger and mcdonald are great safety options....mauger makes the odd decision and is butterfingers with ball sometimes but generally a conservative/kick type player...mcdonald is just safe fullstop!..

i wouldnt say no to cing that team on the field. except for maybe mills (you said form team so far i havnt seen much from him myself) but then again i cant think of anyone else to put in there.... maybe nonu he did play well in the weekend but still i think outside centre is up for grabs

rocko still hasnt shown enough for me either, but i couldnt really see anyone else there from any kiwi team. no1 else has stood out. maybe lomu??? jks :)

Exactly my point.

Last year we were pretty much solid. Mainly because Auckland didn't suck so bad and Umaga was playing...

This year, we have a centre issue and our wings aren't performing (at least as far as we can see) to what they should be... (by that I mean Rocket and Sivi)

can always put flyn at wing, he did alright seagulling out there on saturday afternoon
Hmm... I don't know, he's not exactly the fastest guy around though is he? I think picking a flyer or a specialist winger is the way to go really. Good on you for trying though Woosaah. Have a star. :)

hey, he has scored more tries at wing than rocko, that has to say something :) and if he gets the ball at the back he would be good for the quick throw in, it may not be straight but that doesnt matter.

now only if he had just a tad more pace :)

what about toeava? he did well at defending gear (just before flyns try) wait, no he didnt, he fell over

i had to say that cracked me up :)

We've been over this. Crusaders freaking rule at rugby. They have a system that allows even Al Beano Hamilton to score tries.

i just like rubbing the last weekend in, just a little :) no wonder none of my work mates like talking rugby with me :)

i reckon toeava will be the man next year, that rico bump off was ugly tho. poor guy. he's got a pretty big boot tho huh? his clearances are starting to look better and better as he gains more confidence eh.

yeah he did some mean as clearances the other night, who said his kicking game was crap? he just needs more experience to choose when to do one of those kicks or do some tactical kicking.
next year or the year after he will be a great fullback, unless he gets moved up to 2nd five which is possible.

dont see him surpasing carter at this stage though

Nah coz i remember my mate telling me he's the mad kicker but his first couple of games his kicks were real **** and they kept coming off the side of his boot but now i'm starting to see he does have a pretty mean boot.
but yea 2 years time with a lil more experience he's gonna be much better. u reckon he'll be ready for next years RWC?

i reckon we'd need him, he's a utility back, what country doesn't need one of those. he plays every position in the backline bar halfback and i think flyhalf. you can tell he's a very skilled player he just needs the confidence now.
