We are. The west. As said it’s a collective thing because, take the Tories for example, are so far up Russia’s arse it’s not even funny. I remember you taking a very nonchalant view to that report being suppressed but got your back up when the voter ID debate came up. But yeah, it’s a collective problem.

Still confused as to how the west is normalising this? None of our response or rhetoric has been normalising it in any way?

I’ve pointed it out to you by using you as a specific example but I can draw you a picture if you like. Do you think we’re going to sweep in and save Ukraine. People are already discussing how far he’s going to go like the Ukraine is in the past. The sanctions are almost completely meaningless.

I don't think this is normal at all, I'm not sure why you think I do?

No I don't think we'll see boots on the ground unless he starts on a member state, as is protocol. I think we will probably see us providing resources and "training" to Ukraine to give them a bit more oomf and hold Russia off for a period of time. I assume the plan is then that the economic sanctions have enough of a long term impact that it become financially impossible for Russia to continue the conflict before the Ukrainians break.

No I'm not a fan of any of those things you've listed. I'm also not ashamed, because why would I be? Also don't support the party unconditionally, I've critisized it's current leader plenty and the fact that it's not being particularly "tory" at that level at the moment.

Nah mate. I just remember you completely glossing over the very serious thing of surpressjng an independent report into the influence of a foreign state into our democracy. But you know, got to have those voter ID cards for that non existent problem of voter fraud, right? This is my point. This is the problem. As long as we have people like you who think things like cyber attacks, dodgy donations, corrupt appointments, money laundering etc etc as normal but get your back up for absolute BS invented by the government as an act of sophistry to pull the wool over your eyes then the next step is shot that we’re seeing now. I'm no military expert but this sounds like a reasonable assessment of the situation. It's not that the Russian military is so mighty, its that Ukraine is just about the most geographically indefensible bit of territory you can imagine (which is why places like Ukraine, Poland and Belarus change hands constantly over the centuries).

How hard will it be to defend Ukraine from Russian invasion?

Ukraine is outgunned and outnumbered - and the invasion by Russian forces threatens to be bloody.

It's not that the Russian military is so mighty, its that Ukraine is just about the most geographically indefensible bit of territory you can imagine (which is why places like Ukraine, Poland and Belarus change hands constantly over the centuries).

Ukraine is outgunned and outnumbered - and the invasion by Russian forces threatens to be bloody.

Oh Tory 100%. I know who my candidate would be and he is a nice chap who I trust to speak up when it comes to it and lobby for actual tory principles and a competent leader. My local association is fantastic and full of really honest people doing their best to do the right thing.

I've said this before I think, but part of the problem with the right in this country is that we don't really have much choice as to who to vote for - there really aren't any other options so it's meant that the party is idealogical diluted and when **** crops up like this, the only answer for me is to fight for change within the party rather than just sit on my hands and do **** all

Same for both sides/the issue with the two party system, really
Look how divided Labour is - people who got into politics because of Corbyn's idealism are now being told they have to vote for centrism despite it being nothing like what they actually believe in

Honestly mad how all this footage is so readily, and instantly, available

I know combat footage is nothing new in this day and age, but I feel like we've become quite desensitised to violence in the middle east that seeing it in a more European/Western setting is more jarring - it looks more like something from a "found footage" movie, rather than actual real life
