A Political Thread pt. 2

Corbyn attracted younger voters because they blamed the Tories for Brexit but unfortunately they really didn't look into what he actually stood for. Think he was viewed initially as the British Bernie Sanders (sigh).
That's odd - seeing as most of them joined the labour party in order to vote for Corbyn a year before the Brexit vote (a campaign during which Corbyn was sulkily remain, and everyone knew he was a leaver)

He was majorly out of his depth and nowhere near fit to lead a country let alone a major political party. Being a backbencher is his level.
Now that's true

Weird how everyone talked about Corbyn being a security risk given how in bed the current government is with Putin and his mates
As is that

Fair enough. Either way I'm sure they just saw him as something different i.e. a political underdog and Bernie Sanders type of normal bloke off the street but didn't really look into his history and beliefs.

Looks like millions of soon to be Ukrainian refugees will be heading across the Polish and Slovakian borders into the EU. I can imagine our Government will volunteer to take a fair share of them.

That seems... Odd?

What did they think they were doing there?

Edit: OK so it sounds like they thought they were on a recon mission? Tbh that sounds a little like the Salisbury sightseeing excuse and they've just deserted after losing their bottle. Still would be a good sign
Unfortunately, I'm not going to get my hopes up until independently verified by multiple sources

NATO enlargement since 2004.

2009 - Croatia and Albania
2017 - Montenegro
2020 - North Macedonia

Geopolitically irrelevant countries hundreds, if not thousands of miles away from Russia's 2021 borders. Plus there was no imminent plans to have Ukraine join and indeed it was unclear if this would have been permitted due to Ukraine's internal troubles post-2014.

EU expansion since 2004

2007 - Romania & Bulgaria
2013 - Croatia

I find it difficult to have any respect for the opinion that the above developments posed a threat in any way shape or form to Russian territory given Kaliningrad has been peacefully surrounded by both the EU and NATO since 2004.

Plus this is all irrelevant compared to Putin's argument that Ukraine is a non-state that should be part of Russia.
