Confirmed now,
I like that a lot tbh, good to see him being brought home - had a decent few years of top level experience as an assistant

Yeah I think he's done a good pathway
Massive Premiership experience as a player
Abroad experience as a coach
Assistant for a national team
Right time for him to move

Some talk that Clayton MacMillan is brining a Tighthead with him from Chiefs, George Dyer. No idea if he is IQ, but if not that 'no signing props' thing was entirely toothless. I know nothing about him, but seems a late bloomer, only became a fulltime pro last year. Imagine the NZ teams are being asked to trim squads a bit given the position the NZ union are in.

As an aside I think high profile sabbaticals by their top earners (eg Jordie, Ioane) to offset their wages for a year will become more common.

Will be interesting.

Don’t disagree with any of that, although the counter argument is that he’s been away from the Prem for a long time and has never been involved in day to day coaching at club level.

Apparently there were 8 mentions of ‘long term deal’ in the club announcement. But it is definitely a risk.

Interesting, I thought he'd be heading to Japan or South Africa tbh

There's rumour Dan du Preez is heading to the (South African) Sharks at the end of the season - if true then I wouldn't mind us looking at Ackermann, we've definitely need to sign an 8 from somewhere

Yeah, Tigers fans seemingly nonplussed about the Ackermann rumour, but he’s only 29 and is a solid performer. A good pick up for someone.

If the Red Bull rumour’s true he’d be a good replacement for Chick.

We have needed a starting 8 and looking at who is leaving v incoming we should have the cap for it.

1. Smith, 2. Blamire, 3. Heyes, 4. Martin, 5. Chessum, 6. Hanro, 7. Reffell, 8. Ackermann
1. Haffar, 2. Clare, 3. Hurd, 4. Henderson, 5. Wells, 6. Carnduff, 7. Ilione, 8. Cracknell
1. Cronin, 2. Theobald-Thomas, 4. Cole, 4. L.Chessum, 5. T.Manz, 6. J.Manz, 7. Williams, 8. Moro
Would be pretty good 3 forward pack options for me

Ackermann, Blamire, Haffar would already add some needed dynamism

Ruan does literally all the heavy work for Gloucester imagine what he would be like in a team where he can play more. Like he did in the Lions or first arrived in Gloucester

Hearing some weird Munster rumors linking us with Soroka.... again and Conor Oliver (also again). Neither would be good moves for us (nor do I think they're credible rumors) or the players themselves. Soroka I think grew up a Munster fan and may just want to come here (I think Leamy also really likes him), but he's genuinely a player who should back himself and leave Ireland, he's a very decent player who I think would do well in England. Oliver, no idea, he obviously played for us before and is hitting the exit in Connacht, but I don't think he would block the likes of Quinn as they're already ahead of him.

Jack Oliver to Glasgow also seems a done deal. Would have liked to keep him, but can't expect him to wait around and he may have a shot at international rugby.

The thing is for Soroka is there are not many teams in the prem that are really in a massive need for 6's maybe as a back up but I couldn't think of a team outside of Falcons where I would go yes he would be a starter.

How potentially good is Ilione? Always looked to me like he could be very, very good.

Been a bit of a breakout year. Is he still juggling rugby with medical studies?
