USA news & politics

Equaly you then have to ask who's views do they give creedance to and under what criteria?

If they had stuck to his views on the American food industry would that be ok to publish for example

But did they promote his views elsewhere? Infact the article very truthfully debunked some of his views.

Why wouldnt an article on a very important person, consider his good ideas as well as his bad?

I really don't see the BBC painting him in a good light having read the article. He is the head of American health (well apparently he is I thought Gabbard was head of intelligence but apparently she's just a project manager with limited information) and that does mean his decisions have impacts on people inside and outside the US so it's fair that the BBC do an article on him.

Did you enjoy the read, and did you disagree with anything the journalist wrote?

Shouldn't be in the discussion? Would you restrict what the BBC journalists are allowed to report on?

The problem with your stance, is highlighted beautifully by Ncurds words, if Anti vaxx isn't allowed to be discussed with any merit (I'd assume any criticism of any vaxine would be in that) then RFK is an anti vaxxer and should not have his environmental and health stances discussed with any credence, and there's a word for that stance!
If someone went away. Did all the clinical trials, had them pier reviewed and presented the evidence then yeah let's hear it.

Writing and talking on podcasts about stuff you believe but have no real evidence to back up (apart from similar chats among like minded people) is completely different and should be treated with absolute scepticism.

I think Bill Burr said once "you used to walk in a library and you would see fact or Fiction. Now on the internet it's completely blurred"

Nah, if "reporters" want to report on anti vax and the earth being flat and 6000 years old then go for it I suppose. Just the times we live in. My normative claim would be we in an ideal situation we separate opinion from established fact and leave out the "nuance" for things we know to be false.

Ok, before deep diving into this is need to know what you mean by Anti Vax.

Is it anybody who criticises big Pharma, specific vaccines, covid jabs?

You could probably label most medical professionals as Anti Vax at some point in their careers. Anti Vax feels like a term cultivated by Pfizer in a marketing suite to sway public opinion.

Most of them tend to be comics not reporters

I'm seeing ever more reports of "random" groups of Americans dressing up in armour, masking their faces and kidnapping Latinas off the street, claiming to be ICE; raping them, and discarding them.

Who could possibly have forseen this?

People who are opposed to, or do not believe in the veracity of, vaccines.

People who use proven scientific research for starters. Let's take his views on the American food industry. At it's simplest, yes he is doing a good thing and the American food industry is atrocious in many aspects. However, having read the article, RFK is targeting issues he believes are the problem, not what science says. One big example is the new vaccines committee banning the use of a vaccine because it contsins a chemical that RFK wrote about in a book in 2015. That's his agenda, not a science based agenda. So yes removing harmful food colourings is good, but it's not the only issue and evidence suggests he will ignore other areas if he doesn't believe they are an issue. I'm all for him promoting a healthy lifestyle, by science should judge what that is, not RFK.

Then that's not RFK. He's pro vaxine and vaccinated all of his kids.

RFK believes in the veracity of vaccines in general.

"I want to make sure the committee is clear about a few things. News reports have claimed that I am anti-vaccine or anti-industry. Well, I am neither; I am pro-safety," Kennedy said in his opening statement. "All of my kids are vaccinated, and I believe vaccines have a critical role in health care."

No you’re right he’s a big fan. I particularly liked how he said Covid 19 was genetically engineered to spare the Jews. It’s up there with MTG “Jewish space lasers” ********.
