I highly doubt it'll happen. Trump supporters don't like Musk for his negative comments about Trump. And Democrats don't like him because of the DOGE cut$.

I'd be concerned that when Trump is no longer an option, that void will be filled, if Musk is savvy and panders to them they will turn to him, that i have no doubt.
Musk essentially holds the American space program by the shirt and curlies.
In some cases he's only got to take a few hundred bites away from some republicans to succeed.

And on the flip side, The US government is the thing keeping SpaceX afloat. They have been exploding rockets all over the place, they can only afford to do that with fairly significant assurances of future profit.

This is probably one of few areas I would defend Musk, well more Space X than Musk. these explosions are absolutely necesary for progression.
From what I'm aware, Space X runs rapid testing models, and as such can do the dirty work on behalf of NASA.
NASA are risk averse due to public, funding and international pressure, they can't be seen pushing the boundaries and exploding rockets, but Space X can.
When you push limits, you learn a huge amount but it comes at the cost of higher risk, some of these explosions are malfunctions, some are coordinated by Space X for safety reasons.
The industry is going to see a lot of failures by its very nature, its better to push 1000 boundaries and learn and create safe formulae for manned missions.
Thats how is view it anyway.
NASA has been a complete failure since the late 1970s. They have zero credibility.

Zero credibility is probably a bit over the top and a statement more akin to a flat earther but I don’t know much about NASA.
Didn't they blow up both their space shuttles in highly avoidable circumstances?
