Score was Bath 45 - 17 EngU20

I'm not aware of it having been televised anywhere, but there are these from the Bath fan site. Obviously, they're biased, and more interested in the Bath players than anything else
The conditions were miserable, not condicive to much running rugby but both sides did their best. England U20 looked what they were - a group of talents who had not played together. Their pacey wings- Offiah and Wniters hardly saw the ball until late on.

Bath used their power and forward cohesion well to dominate the first half. Opoku-Gyamfi and Butt were used to set up rucks and mauls from which the lively halfbacks mostly kicked (Box and territory).

O-G got the first try bursting over off a maul. Spandler was driven over from a lineout maul, then Timmins finished off a combined backs and forwards handling move. Emmens got try No 4 from a flowing move and strong burst from Griffin.

England got one good run going - a great surge by Winters putting No9 Stewart-Harris in for a try.

24-5 at Half Time.

Second half the bomb squad came on at 50. Bath got tries through (not sure-Maybe Woods), Cowan and Ridgeway to take it to 45-5 on 60.

At that point cold, wet and in need of a beer, with the match very one -sided, I repaired to the pub. Missed the England U20 last two tries. Final score 45-17.

Brest Bath performers? O-G, Timmins, Cowan. Le Roux and Rouie at halfback, strong running in parts from the back 3.

Really enjoyed the match, and great to see so many of the first team squad there to offer support. A few points on the match and after speaking to a few players. Will Roue has been given a contract and is likely to play in the Prem Cup games. Sam Harris was there and confirmed he is some way off getting back into full training. Kieran D is also some way off, and Linegar is in the U20 squad. So cover was needed and he’s it. He had a pretty good game, kicked well, and made a few good breaks. Otherwise, Connor Treacey had a solid game for England, in a pack that was mostly going backwards. Thought Le Roux looked very rusty. And finally, England brought on Sonny Tonga’uiha - a truely monster Saints prop who made Enoch look positively svelte!

Welsh u20 squad is an indictment of how the WRU has killed talent development in Wales (numbers are an estimate)

Cardiff - 10 players
Scarlets - 8
Dragons - 6
Bristol - 4
Gloucester - 4
Bath - 4
Exeter - 2
Ospreys - 1

65% or so of the squad plays in wales.

Some decent backs from last season, Wilde and Emanuel were good, as was Bowen.

This isnt an experienced u20 squad though, 30 or so are new faces, so a likely 5th or 6rh place finish i reckon, unless we uncover a few gems and dizzy the heights of 4th.

Looking forward to this tonight. I’m sure we’ll get soundly beaten but, as always with under 20s, hoping to see one or two good individual performances.

Don’t recognise most of this team. Where has our good front row from last year gone? One of them was that prop Scott who’s at Bristol but can’t remember the others now but don’t look to be involved this year.

Most of last years pack aged out...

30 newbies in this 40 odd man squad, there are only 3 stand outs who played last year in Emanuel, Bowen and Wilde (and hes notnin the match day squad).

Ive heard good things from a friend up west about Leggat Jones and Osian Williams, i dont know much about them tbh... some of the Cardiff backs look OK, im hoping Sion Davies gets some sort of platform, but never seen any of them at this level, except for Emanual and Bowen obviously. I hope Bowen gets some ball

That Leggat Jones struggled in his first start for the Scarlets the other day. He’s only a baby though.

Bowen will be one of the leaders in this group I’d imagine. He’s got some good senior experience under his belt now. Hope he goes well.

Ye i didnt think much of him either, but like you said, it was his first start, make shift team in Italy in disgraceful weather, and hes just turned 18 hasnt he? Hell be encouraged by the outing, especially the draw.

I dont think tonight will be hos day or Sion Davies, or Tom Bowen tbf, but itlll be invaluable exposure

So...

Half time and Wales are dominant. 16-0 and it could have been worse if not for 2 knockons on Englands line.

Very dissapointing from England, weirdly it doesnt look like men vs Boys, England actually have some players that look like teenagers. Incredibly poor first half, cant keep the ball for multi phase, Tonguiha came off the bench at tighthead in 3 mins and looks scared to scrummage, after giving away 2 penalties, i genuinely dont think he can straighten up, his body just isnt that flexible. Poor kicking from England, kicked 1 dead from 15m out, allowing Wales back 3 time to catch etc...

It looks like a new batch of 18 year olds, probably because it is. Wales havnt been particularly good, they just arent making the same amount of mistakes

Expecting an England backlash here...

Use the maul weapon, getnon the board early. A good coach twlls them to tighten up stay patient and points will come

Gotra give English coaches a pat on the back here, England have tightened up, used the maul and scored 2 tries in 10 mins...

Excellent response from an awful 1st half

Interesting Wales have been penalised for technicalities going forward and defending now, the in from the side was harsh...

England in control though, Wales need to start the 2nd half, they havnt come out of the sheds, english coaching absolutely won the half time battle by a mile

They were gash the first half. Wales were well worth the lead.
