The timing depended on when the ball hits the boot not when it goes into touch (when the ball is kicked directly into touch)

Fair enough, didn't know that; in which case, ref was right, and shouldn't even have bothered conferring on it.

Yeah it was pretty obvious the hooter hadn't gone yet. Though I always thought in rugby it's when the ball enters touch....otherwise what do you do if the ball is kicked in field...

that's why i noted for when the ball goes directly into touch it is when it hits the boot, if it land in touch and then goes out it is when the ball goes into touch

Pulu would be a much better 7s player if he used a bit more finesse, he always seems to me to want to make contact and out muscle guys

TBH i think we improved every game and the Japan loss was the one that really killed us, if we beat them we would have met Fiji in the Semi
