Those are highlights from the last round robin matches of the 2006 season.

Notice anything different? All of the All Blacks are playing, Collins, Macdonald, Carter, Evans, Sivivatu.

Long gone are the days where top level players are available even for finals matches, let alone round robin games.

I think 2005 was the last great season. Back when we still had promotion-relegation and not a ridiculous number of 14 teams. We should never have abandoned the three division structure and just implemented automatic promotion-relegation (rather than a playoff).

Actually promotion/relegation hadn't occurred for a while prior to 2005.
