COME ON YOU PUMAS!

This is turning into a great year for us. Who would have thought that we'd be able to topple the mighty BUlls? No I certainly. It's a shame we dropped points against the Lions, if we hadn't we'd be pretty safe at the moment.

Well, just tell me what would be nice to add ;) I like to write pieces like this and if you guys enjoy reading it, that's an extra reason for me to keep on writing.

So, this is roughly the situation heading towards the semi-finals

The Sharks will top the log unless:
WP beat the Bulls with a BP, and then WP beat the Sharks with the Sharks not getting a BP.
Or WP could get the five pointer against the Bulls, and then a 5 pointer against the Sharks, with the Sharks only getting 1 BP. WP have a big points difference, so they will top the log if they finish level with the Sharks

The Bulls face a tough 2 games to secure 3rd place, with a place in the top 4 not even assured.
Should the Bulls lose today, they will be overtaken by the winner of the Lions vs Cheetahs game. Conversely, should the Bulls win without a BP, they will stay third put will be 1 or 2 points behind WP (Depending on WP getting a BP from the game). The Bulls play Griquas in their final game, and with all their Boks back, they will most likely get 5 points against them. So, they will finish 2nd if the they beat WP today, and then WP are beaten by the Sharks.

The Cheetahs and the Lions have a similair route as each other to the semi's. They play each other today, then face the Leopards and Pumas respectively.
The Cheetahs sit on 37 (and could still finish 2nd on the log) points, whilst the Lions sit on 35. So with 5 points the most likely scenario for both teams in their final games, this is effectively a knock-out game. With the winning team likely to go through at the expense of the other.

However, it is possible for the Cheetahs to qualify ahead of the Bulls even if they do lose, they will need at least 1 BP from todays game, and hope that the Bulls don't beat WP
This scenario could lead to the Bulls not qualify altogether, because if they don't get a BP from today, the Lions will be on 39/40 points, with Cheetahs on 38 points and could rack up the points difference against a poor Leopards team.

The final scenario is the one I shall be praying for.

Oh, and the Griquas stand only a mathematical chance, and would have to beat the Bulls with 5 points (the face Pumas today), and hope that the Cheetahs and Lions lose in their final games

Okay, so here are this weekends results

Sharks 63-6 Leopards
Sharls Tries: Daniel (2), Ndgungane (2), Mvovo, Jannie (2), Louis Ludik, Eugene van Staden

Sharks on fine form on Friday, with Andre Pretorius slotting 6 conversions, and Lambie a further 3, for a 100% accuracy. Must say the Flasher Girls were in even finer form, especially the added 'bounce' in the dance :p

Bulls 36 -32 WP

Cheetahs 43 - 37 Lions

So, with this in mind the log looks something like this

1. Sharks 52
2. WP 44
3. Cheetahs 42
4. Bulls 42

In order for the Lions to progress, Griquas would have to beat the Bulls with the latter not getting any BP. Tis a tall order.

The Cheetahs have a greater points differemce than the Bulls, like 33+ or something. What this means, is that the Cheetahs are all most garuanteed to finish ahead of the Bulls.

Obviously the crunch match will be Wp vs Sharks next week, and if the Sharks wish to avoid facing the Bulls in the semis, they will have to beat WP, as 1st plays 4th, and 2nd plays 3rd.
And should the Sharks do this, the log will look like this

1. Sharks
2. Cheetahs
3. Bulls
4. WP

So the fixtures for the semis would be

Sharks vs. WP in Durban
Cheetahs vs. Bulls in Bloemfontein

Should WP win the crunch match, the log will look like this

1. Sharks
2. WP
3. Cheetahs
4. Bulls

with

Sharks vs Bulls
WP vs Cheetahs

At least us Shark supporters don't have to worry about losing to the Cheetahs in the semi-final, again :(

Well, it turns out the Sharks have won their 6th ***le in 20 years. Not a bad 2 decades in Natal rugby
