2023-2024 transfers

Yes - which would give him 0 rest ahead of the RWC - which doesn't sound terribly well managed.
I'll be honest - that's the first I've heard that he was rumoured back to SA - I must have missed it.

SA teams are generally told to rest players especially those on a central contract.

But that's still less restful than not playing rugby.
Your argument was that he wanted to manage his rest, and then dismiss the more restful option in favour of the less restful one

I'm confused - you need an explanation for how sitting on a beach is more restful than playing rugby?

Cardiff Blues and the Ospreys do a deal for Rory Thornton to spend the next season in the capital on loan. He's hardly the world class player that Mulvihill has alluded to in previous interviews but this does prove one thing... the regions are FINALLY starting to work together for the benefit of both the players and the international team.

At 23, the previous under 20's Captain is in serious need of game time and that would be less likely at the Ospreys where they are well covered. I have seen very little of Thornton but I imagine that the form of Beard in Argentina has forced this move with a World Cup on the horizon.

The cynic in me feels this may be more motivated by financial reasons rather than to help a neighbour :D. I hope you are right though, it'd be good for the talent to be shared. However as you say, the O's are well stacked in the second row area and Cardiff B absolutely could do with a specialist second row. Works for everyone really. Hope he does well and even considers staying.

Wayne Pivac to take over from Gatland.

Pretty much the only choice considering his knowledge of the Welsh game and how he has developed the Scarlets. Think he'll do a great job. Think he will take SJ and maybe BH too...

Wonder who will be the next Scarlets head coach?

Personally think it's a bad choice.

I bet you do... kind of like how I hope England bring back Gustard but this time for the head coaching role once Eddie moves on.

I'm going to support Scotland in the next 6N on the grounds they have a Scottish coach. This SH coaching invasion has to stop.

I get your point but needs must... if there was a Welsh head coach with the talent and nous of Gregor I'd be all for it (& SJ might eventually be that man) but in the mean time I'm good with another NZer.

I would deffo take Dai(ly) as a forwards coach for Wales (though I would rather Adam Jones) but not convinced he would be right for head coach of Wales. Hasn't quite achieved as much as Gats, Henry, Hansen or even Gareth Jenkins although fat lot of good that did him).

For as financially difficult as the Welsh regions have found things, the Welsh job is a BIG payer for anyone... therefore the right guy Welsh or otherwise has to have achieved. Also, the whole Welsh 'goldfish bowl' thing does seem an actual thing that hinders Welsh men in the role.
