If you look at the longer video its started by Spanish players, particularly a sub baiting and antagonising a couple of Argentinian players. Paredes is a warrior that any team would want.

I didn't care who won yesterday, I even thought it'd be funny to see Argentina win just to see the BBC pundits and English football medias collective headloss if that were to happen.

But I thought Argentina were a disgrace yesterday, no interest in playing football. They wanted to scrap, foul and scramble there way to a penalty shootout. It was a team with serious heart who played on the edge for the entire knockout stage but they went over it yesterday. They tried to win the game whilst getting in England's face, no issue there, they had no interest in winning in 120 mins of football yesterday.

Equally, I kind of agree that the footage Olyy posted is inconclusive. I think it looks like the Spanish player says words before the Argentine strikes out. Still shouldn't put the arm out but possibly one that can be compared to Bellingham (and no one was a winner there)

I think the World cup final followed an absolutely logical route.
To win Spain wanted to score first and deny Argentina the oppourtunity to score first.
They also needed to starve Messi from possession.

Therefore they deployed their unique weapon to full capacity (the ability to completely dominate possession). This meant that they ignored incisive movements up the pitch, rather using possession to pin Argentina back, strategically build a starnglehold on possession----make it extremly difficult for Argentina to hold possession for more than acouple of passes in a turnover. Littlechance of a goal against the run of play which was their biggest threat.
They should have scored earlier but cup final fever may have gripped a little.

Paredes is a hard man, a canny player and knows how to count the amount of fouls to stay on the right side of a red card.

Argentina tried and were simply not good enough to break out of Spain's possession stronghold.
Recall 2014 when Argentina relied on a counter attacking game to try and beat that great German team. The ability of that German team to hold possession was nothing compared to Spain 2026.
Argentina had as few near misses where players were almost put through in the first half. Messi set up a brilliant free kick late which almost garnered an equalizer.
The best way for Argentina to win given Spain's possession game was what they did. If they didn't get that red, they were still in that match.
We also saw tournament fatigue finally affect Argentina in hot conditions chasing shadows.
Sure Argentina could have come out to play and lost 4 nil but that would be illogical in terms of winning a World cup.
