Second consecutive year with two week night games and no 4.40pm Saturday game.

The Six Nations doesn't want the Irish to have fun and it might be all we're good for for awhile, who knows?!

Nice schedule to get a slam if we're looking good enough though. Italy and Wales should still be slightly softer away games than Scotland and there's an 8 day turnaround before Rome.

Italy and Scotland should be happy, England, not so much!

What's special about 4.40?
I see 3 matches at 4.40 on a Saturday
Does Friday evening really count as "week night"? I mean, technically, yes, but it's not like Friday night is famously a school night, when no-one goes out or gets a touch drunk.

ETA: Sorry, I see you're talking exclusively (but not explicitly) about Ireland

I always see 4.40 as the prime time slot and it's definitely the best time to go to a game / watch a game in Dublin - the city is still a bit sleepy early afternoon on a Saturday.

I don't hate a Friday night game but they can be a stress to get to, I didn't go last Friday but I'd have been racing straight in after only finishing up at 6.45. Not really a problem for people who don't have to get contracts over the line regularly on a Friday and can get into Ballsbridge for 6 / 6.30 so I'm being a bit precious on that one, although I think it's fair to only want one.

Quick thoughts on each team’s schedules
England - Tough order I reckon. The 3 Blue teams at home is no longer the 3/3 banker that it used to be - and we start in Dublin which is our hoodoo away game if you look at the 6 Nations era as a whole. 3 wins in Ire since 1999!.
France - Decent opener but their run from rounds 2-5 looks horrible. Twickers (Bogey Ground), Scotland, then Rome and Dublin in consecutive weeks to finish.
Ireland - Get through the first two games unscathed and a Grand Slam suddenly looks possible. They don’t seem to be the prime-time favourites though do they?.
Italy - Got a good enough team now to win 2 games every year regardless of home/away split. Got a feeling that Ireland could be in trouble in Rome next year. They won’t win it themselves but they’ll play a role in deciding who does. For the first time ever I’d give them a shout in every game.
Scotland - Great draw with a real chance of building momentum. Twickers on Super Saturday could be spectacular if there’s something on it (other than the Calcutta Cup of course).
Wales - Tough with Fra and Sco away first up. I reckon they’ll be a threat at home next year though and won’t go winless.

Looking forward to Feb 5 in Dublin. Putting together a fun crew and will be there. Several nights in Dublin with a few pub crawls. Great walk to the Friday evening game at Landsdowne Rd.

As always, very tough choice between the two teams. Played my first two tours in England and saw England - Scotland at Twickenham in the late 70’s. But recently have attended several Ireland matches with close Ireland friends and family.

Can’t lose, eh?

The boy asked me for the 6N fixtures next year and saw Italy V Wales in Rome is the day before his birthday and the cheeky sod asked if he can have that as his birthday treat.
Question is, are you going to oblige, @Welsh Exile? - pressure is on now!. I’ve been wanting to go to a 6 Nations game in Rome for 20 years but have not managed it yet. I have been there for a week long holiday on a couple of occasions and I’ve never been so gutted about coming back home!.
