A Political Thread pt. 2

Does she trigger you a bit?

Not at all, I'm all for it. I say let Greta and the actor from game of thrones through the blockade, and rock up with aid for the poor people of Gaza!!!

Im 100% on the side of palestinian innocent citizens, and if Greta pops up on shore with aid then all the better!

Im just gutted her last attempt never worked out.

Apparently she's 30 miles north of Cairo and incoming, I hope those horrible dirty isrealis don't intercept her!

Holy moly, the freedom Flotila came to the rescue of a sinking boat desperate for help, a Libyan coast guard pretending to be Egyptian rescued them, but that's illegal!

Thank god she waved, lives saved!!!

Simon harris “an incredible effort to get food and medicine to the starving people of Gaza” whereas the flotilla call the aid 'only symbolic' and laments the attempt is to 'draw attention' to the situation.

Thank God, I'm struggling to find up to date reports on Gaza!

A live tracker has reported that the Madleen just minutes ago has alarms blaring, and is under attack presumably by Isreali forces. Thoughts and prayers for all on board for safe passage!

I've just received word, the IOF who were being blamed of attacking the flotila, actually was just some random boats who passed by.

Some lights caused alarm, but the flotila continues determined! Thank the lord they survived!

If anyone is as concerned as I am, follow their progress live:

Incredibly worrying few hours, contact was lost with the Madleen and the world awaits news.

I hate to break the news, but the worst has happened, they have been kidnapped!

God speed noble warriors...

Rumours are that the 'symbolic amount of aid' only board is approximately around a small van load lol.

How the IDF managed to find the boat i don't know, all the GPS, live streaming, live trackers and announcements made daily, youd think they would be able to sneak in unnoticed hahahaha

It sounds like a joke...

So a Palestinian French MEP, Greta Thunberg and the Onion Knight go on a booze cruise to Gaza...

But on a serious note, does the IDF have a responsibility to stop the boat, either in regards to the blockade, or more realistically for the safety of the passengers?

So you don't know, include the West Bank/east Jerusalem/Gaza or one or more of them would account for 2 million, but now of them are Israeli, they are illegally occupied territories.
Google is your friend. It took me 1 minute and a whole load of places come up in northern, central and southern Isreal. It's not hard to find mate, just 1 simple search away.

It's amazing how people can form such strong opinions on something without even knowing the most basic things.

If I remember, the last time I was there, I was told there were a couple hundred thousand Palestinians living in Isreal (not Gaza or West Bank).

I met a few Palestinians while dealing with a maintenance contract at a few power plants (a fair old time ago to be fair), there seemed to be a lot working in unskilled labour manufacturing, and construction. Funny story, a few of them spoke Hebrew, that blew my mind for some reason, probably because I was ignorant lol

I think it’s a lot more than that. Last I saw it makes up about 20% of Israel’s population (about 2 million)

I think it depends on technicalities doesn't it?

There are lot of conflation of Palestinians and Isreali Arabs, some consider themselves Isreali, some claim they are Palestinian forced to get citizenship.

There is also a lot of questionable definitions of borders and stuff (ie East Jerusalem).

As within context of this discussion though, I think your right, there are 2 million Muslims (define however you want) who live in Isreal with Isreali citizenship.

3 million more in West bank, 2 million in Gaza which are claimed as Palestinian states by some, less so by others.

But to the point your making, I would say, and I witnessed (not this decade mind you) pretty decent cohesion and living standards of Palestinions/ muslims/Arabs, in Isreal proper (bad term but you know what I mean).

How well the treatment is I don't know, but i think we can all agree Muslims in Isreal are treated better than Jews under Hamas leadership would be!

I would imagine they face some systemic prejudices as minorities do in western countries but legally they enjoy the same rights. I think most of them are in Northern Isreal in Nazareth and places like that but you have mixed cities as well like Haifa.
