Manifesto pledge break and another U-turn. Absolute shambles.

God knows what's going to happen next election. Tories destroyed the country for 14 years, Labour incapable of appearing competent (and being given WAY less leeway than the Tories were) and Reform voters seem to not give a damn how awful they are as long as they think they will go after foreigners.

This should be an ideal time for one if the established protest parties (lib dem / green) to step up but they are ******* failing to capitalise on this.

I think there are going to be a lot of very disillusioned voters next year and it will likely be an extreme election. Most people feeling fed up and apathetic whilst those who do still vote likely doing to primarily as a protest to just about everything.

Britain just feels devoid of any real non-awful choices.

Sorry if already posted. Not sure where I stand on this.
Depends whether you would prefer your liberty in the hands of the British public, or rich old **** accompanied by volunteer magistrates that basically take the role on because they like the power.

As much I complain about people in general I think I'd fancy my chances against a jury over the megalomaniacs.

And it's a further erosion of rights. The right to a trial by a jury of your peers is one of our oldest legal entitlements and something we should absolutely hold dear. Imagine if you're black and Farage is the judge.

When I watched that jury thing on Channel 4 not so long ago it convinced me that the jury system is fundamentally a bad idea. People literally make up their minds after 2 seconds and don’t care about evidence or anything like that.

The cynic in me can't help thinking that this is a reaction to people mentioning "jury nullification" in relation to Palestine Action and Extinction Rebellion

It's not unknown for Juries to have members who just think all cops lie and won't be swayed. Equaly in complex fraud cases average Joe's not got a clue what's going on.

Common knowledge you've got a better chance in Magistrates if you go suited and booted and come across as a god fearing gentleman rather than in a trackie.

Still rather take my chances with a jury than an out of touch beak or magistrates.

As my dad always said to me as a child, it’s only illegal if you get caught.

Terrible in Hong Kong. 3 company executives arrested already. While I'm not saying Hong Kong and China are beacons of law and justice, at least someone has been arrested. No one has ever been held accountable for grenfell and never will.

Just a reminder one of these guys almost became PM.

Not only that... i was one of the 10+ million who voted for him, and he got near a million more votes than this Labour government, all the while having his own party trying to throw him to the wolves.

Is he just that poor a leader that he is constantly undermined by stupid but ruthless people? Or is he just too nice to be in politics?

Christ on a bike, Sultana 'forgot' to invite Corbyn to the pre confeeence party on the Friday, and then she refused to enter the conferences as some of her allies were thrown from the party, and 1 refused entry to the conference hahaha

WTF is going on?!

So either you need a pardon because you're guilty or because you're so corrupt you want to skip due process. This would make a mockery of anyone defending Israel's democracy.
