A Political Thread pt. 2

I think given Starmers speech yesterday it's got us nowhere. The poor guys ******. For all the Trump whispering it's looking more and more likely it's not achieved much at all. They know it, and we know it and the relationship is unravelling. As the beeb put it.

Most media seem to be accepting that's not much Starmer can do. We are simply too tied in with the US.
If only we hadn't spent 4 years ******* off our closest trading partners. (The EU arent much better due to in reality its decentrlised power)

But that's the point. You give into tantrums, it just escalates. Let's say Denmark do hand over Greenland. What will he want next? Ireland, Scotland for example?
Thing is how do you stop him. We can't military and economically with out great damage. Without at the same time risking throwing Ukraine under the bus.

I do generally feel if he did take Greenland, we'd roll over

The only think is the US would be chucked out of NATO (not that Trump cares)

I can't see any military action in response.

And there's the problem. We have the F-35, Apache helicopters, intelligence services, and servicing of are nukes, plus god knows what else linked to America.

It would take an estimated 10 plus years and god knows how much for the UK to get off America military reliance. That's would be whilst trying to support the Ukraine etc.

Hindsight being a wonderful thing but it's looking like a major strategic blunder by numerous governments

I expect china with the super embassy given the green light might look at a overall trade and visa deal similar to Canada.
EU and the UK are already coming together now.

Reality is Trump doing more promote global trade than any previous President.

Bmi always find amusing the harder left hated Burnham when he was up against Corbyn (round 1).

If I were Burham I'd wait until the bext general election cycle and work as a successor to Kier than be a stalking horse.

Yeah get the rail system all set in stone for Manchester and the north and then move on after this wave

Really depends if he thinks the May locals are going to be a disaster and Starmers head is on the block.

Will he risk waiting for the GE whilst Streeting or someone else becomes leader.

What cycle are we in for locals? I know many are being pushed due to unitary authority changes.

They'll also have to be taken into account of previous in government hammerings that are common.

I dunno I think after the Tories psychodrama people are too focused on Starmer and not use to normality going which I still can't see happening this side of the of a GE
