Possibly, I don't have the energy to scroll through 2 years of news articles tbh. I just find it strange that they've made a point of not saying who the fixed penalty notices are for, especially considering how high profile it is. Judges have ruled before on naming people or details if it is in the public interest. Surely if anything is in the public interest it is this and those guilty should be named.

I think the mad cake people have waived their right to privacy by speaking to the press. With the house party one, as we well know on a rugby forum, if you are accused of something and it goes to court the media can get cart blanche to report your details and the details of the offence, regardless of if you are actually found guilty of anything.

Whereas with FPNs are an alternative to prosecution, don't reach court and therefore don't make the public domain. For the police to reveal that information would breach Data Protection.

So, in summary:

- accused of something that goes to court, deny guilt and be found not guilty = name all over the papers and career ruined.

- accept guilt and pay an FPN = nobody will ever know

- be found not guilty of rape in a criminal case but later found guilty of the same offence in a civil case with a far lower threshold of evidence = be called a "rapist" in every news outlet and have career ruined (see David Goodwillie)

- don't accept guilt in a civil case but pay £12 million to the victim = walk arm in arm with the head of state in a public display of affection and never be called a sex offender or sex trafficker (purely hypothetical!)

It's a beautiful system!
